Wine and Music

I got my butt into gear after we got back from Florida. I was feeling more comfortable with driving Sutton and I was going to New Mom yoga twice a week and had a personal trainer visit the house twice a week as well. I started feeling like I was getting my body back. 

The Music City Food & Wine event was just a week away, so Hunter and I broke out the guitars and did a little rehearsal during one of Sutton's naps. "You have a half hour, so about eight songs." I nodded looking at the blank paper in front of me. My mission was to come up with a set list. 

"Well, I am definitely going to do In Case You Didn't Know, I will be playing Red, and maybe I can cover that new one by Lindsay Ell... Waiting on You." 

Hunter slid my guitar over, "Can you play it for me? I genuinely can't think of the song right now."

I flipped through my book and found the dog eared page with the chords. I played through the song, and Hunter  nodded, "I like it, its really catchy." I nodded and scribbled it down on my list. We came up with my eight songs and decided on a ninth song for back up in case I get through with time to spare. Most of my songs were original but have yet to be recorded. I liked throwing in covers, especially as a "new" artist, it helped me connect to the fans.

"Welcome ya'll to the feature stage," Beth, the event chair announced to the audience, "I hope y'all are having a great time. I'm happy to introduce Jenna Hayes to the stage."

I shook Beth's hand and made my way to the microphone, "Hello everyone! How are we doing tonight?" The audience cheered, "Enjoy the wine, beer and food, and sing along if you know any of these." I began strumming and singing from song to song. I looked over to see Hunter side stage for most of my set. In the blink of an eye, my eight songs were complete and some people were yelling encore. I went back stage to the tents to find Hunter burping Sutton while hanging out with the guys. "Hey, you sounded great." He kissed my cheek and I sat down, opening my hands to take Sutton. Hunter passed me the bottle we prepped for this evening. "That's what she just had," he said, "I haven't changed her." I looked around, there wasn't really anywhere to change her. Hunter had to get ready for his forty five minute set, I excused myself to take Sutton back to the car to change her. "Why didn't I think of that?" Hunter laughed, "Sorry Jen." 

"Don't worry," I kissed him, "we will come watch you soon."

I strolled Sutton back to the car, changed her and we made it back to in time to see Hunter perform his set. "Hey y'all, hope you're enjoying the night so far. Can we get a big round of applause for our openers, Carly Pierce and of course, my wife Jenna Hayes," the audience cheered and Hunter continued his set. The sun began to sink behind the Nashville skyline, Hunter finished and we met him in the tented area.

We headed back into the car hand in hand after saying bye to the guys. Hunter turned the key and we started off for home. "You did great Jen," he squeezed my hand, "and you looked amazing. I know you've felt a little out of your own body, but I can tell you're working hard to get back to a place you're happy with." 

"Thanks babe. I had a lot of fun," I decided to tell Hunter, "I weighed myself this morning. I'm down fifteen pounds, and I have twenty to go til I reach my goal, my pre-pregnancy weight."

"There's no rush Jen, you're doing great."
