The tour wrapped up quickly after the show in Indianapolis. It was such a treat to have my parents see me play, see this snippet of our lives and get to have some quality time with Sutton. We were back home in Nashville and tonight was the last night of our tour. Lanco has become such great friends and I feel like I learned so much between the first night and now, as a performer, a working mom and as a tour mate.
I hopped out of the car with Sutton and made my way into the back of the venue. I opened the door to my dressing room to find several vases of flowers, "How sweet." I said quietly to myself. I looked at the cards and one vase was from Hunter, the other from Lanco, and then there were even flowers from my parents and friends, Reba Maddie and Tae - all congratulations me on my record deal, and completing this tour. I smiled at the generosity and set Sutton in the play pen while I started to get ready. I heard chatter in the hallway, probably Hunter and the guys, when there was a knock at the door.
I opened it up, and low and behold, it was Danielle Bradbery with another vase of flowers,"I was in town and Hunter invited me to come see you and I had to meet Sutton!" She gushed. I welcomed her in and set the flowers down on the make up table. We chatted, Danielle played with Sutton while I got ready before Hunter arrived. Danielle left shortly before I had to go on, Hunter took over Sutton and I went to open our last show.
After the amazing, energetic closing show, Devon had an announcement to share in the dressing room before we parted ways. "I would just like to announce that tonight, we had our biggest crowd and it was a sold out show. We played tonight for seventeen thousand-five hundred and sitxty people!" My jaw dropped, high fives and hugs all around.
"That's amazing!" I said, lifting up my water bottle, "Cheers everyone - I wouldn't have been able to do this without y'all, helping Hunter and I with Sutton, being patient with me as I figure out this new part of my life... and I too actually have some good news, more on a personal level.." the guys cheered their water bottles as I turned to fetch an envelope to hand over to Hunter. I had collected the mail today and received notification about my pending US citizenship paperwork.
I handed Hunter the envelope and he looked partly confused until he opened the envelope and began to read. "Another reason to celebrate tonight -Jenna has her US paperwork! Congrats babe!" More hugs and high fives before we decided to get Sutton home to her real bed.
Hunter and I took turns showering before flopping on the bed. There's no place like home, and Sutton had grown so much over the six weeks. She was pretty well sleeping through the night, and Hunter and I were excited to start introducing solid foods for her. "Touring with you was amazing. Thank you," I kissed Hunter, "for believing I could do this. For supporting me while we have a five and a half month old child, for being amazing."
Hunter pulled me in close, he kissed me and said, "Thank you for believing in yourself, and seeing what I saw in you, for making me a dad to the cutest little girl and for being your wonderful, amazing self."
