"Good morning Jenna," Byron opened his office door, we had a follow up meeting after the festival to talk about what is coming up next, "and this must be Sutton."
"Yes, it is. How are you?" I asked, setting Sutton's carrier on the floor beside me, making her comfortable before we began.
"I'm well, and I am happy to have some good news for you." Wide eyed, I let Byron continue, "We have arranged a tour for you and Hunter and another act, that hasn't been decided yet. It will be six weeks long, middle of October to early December."
"Oh wow," speechless, but so happy.
"That's the half of it, there's more. I know I was hard on you when we first met. Clearly you have worked hard, despite the changes and challenges of the past year, and I would like to offer you a full record deal."
My heart must have skipped a beat, "That's incredible - thank you." An assistant was buzzed in with the full package. I looked it over and was explained the different things and suggested I take it home, review it with Hunter and being it back by the end of the week. I hugged Byron and loaded Sutton into the car. "Sutton baby, did you hear, mommy got her deal!" Before starting home, I called my mom.
"Hey Jenna, how are you?"
"I have the best news, I had to tell you first."
I told my mom about the deal and the tour.
"Jenna that is amazing. I am so proud of you for not giving up. Give Sutton kisses for us."
I hung up and headed home. Once there I unpacked Sutton, got her fed and changed, ordered groceries, and tackled some laundry. Hunter came home, groceries in hand. "Jenna, I'm home." I made my way downstairs with Sutton. "How are my two beautiful girls," he kissed me and Sutton, "how was your day?"
"Today was good, productive even." We walked to the kitchen and I had purposely left the envelope from Byron on Hunter's table spot. I placed Sutton in the bassinet in the living room before heading back to the kitchen to help put groceries away. Hunter caught a glimpse of the envelope and opened it, his eyes scrolling line for line.
"Jenna Grace, am I reading what I think I'm reading?" I nodded, opening my arms to receive a big hug, "Jenna, babe I am so proud of you. I knew you would make it."
I pulled away to look into Hunter's eyes, "Thank you for believing in me, even when I didn't believe in myself." I kissed his lips and we happily chatted about the tour while we put groceries away and whipped up a quick dinner. Once Sutton was down for bed, Hunter and I raked through the terms, agreements and fine print within the record deal package. The thought of going on tour and starting this part of my career with Sutton being so young was daunting, but Hunter supported me one hundred percent.
"We will make this work," Hunter gently massaged my shoulders, "I'm excited to see what life brings next." He kissed my cheek, his touch was warm and endearing.
I sat up and turned to face him, kissing him gently. "I think I'm ready to have sex again. I don't know how I will feel, but I want to feel closer to you." The doctor's orders of 'wait six weeks' had long past, and Hunter was so sweet and respectful, understanding that having a baby wasn't just physical, but there was a lot of mental and emotional strain.
"Whatever you want, babe. Promise me - if it hurts or anything, you will tell me and we can stop." I nodded, kissing him, letting my hands explore his body. His hands were gentle, and when I was ready, I let him enter me and it was uncomfortable at first. Kissing him helped and he finished, laying down to face me, he asked, "Was that okay?"
"It was okay, I'm sorry I wasn't more into it," I laughed, he held my hand and shook his head, "it felt a bit weird, but we will get back to it." I kissed his nose and got ready for bed.
