Grandpa had gotten really sick. And was in and out of the hospital. Grandma was getting worried.
We could barely tare her away from his bedside. When we finally got her away she went home. I was allowed to finally visit.
I walked over to his bedside an sat down. My voice chocked. It was like I couldn't say anything.
Here's the thing about gramps. He wasn't much of a speaker. And he lived by that.
When he was brought to the hospital they immediately moved him. They knew he wasn't gonna live. So they did everything they did to make him feel comfortable. They can't take care of him anymore.
So this is was my time to speak.
"Gramps, it's been a good life for you. And I know you probably don't wanna stay and live in pain. So I understand if you let go now. Please just know that we loved every word you said. Things will be difficult, but we'll get through! You know us!! We can do it! We're the Ferinde's." With this his heart monitor when flat.
My grandma heard that he had passed when she came to pick us. She cried. We we're stuck in the middle of the parking lot until my grandma pulled herself together.
