My mother stopped by and brought Charlie. He jumped on me. And almost knocked me over. I wanted to talk to my mom but she left as soon as Charlie jumped.
What surprised me the most was who came after that. Ashley. Her and I hadn't talked for almost 3 months. She knock on the door and I ran over to see who it could be at 12 am in the morning.
"Ashley?" I asked
"Heh, yeah. I need a place to stay. Mind if I stay here?"
"No um you can have my room. The dog has already claimed the middle room." I told her. She nodded and I laughed. Her backpack was full of clothes and meds.
"Hey ash, can I ask a question?"
"Yeah."
"Did you run away?" She looked at me. I knew what this meant. Her mom had kicked her out.
"No," her voice chocked. She started to cry. I rushed over and hugged her. She grabbed my shirt tightly. And I held her while she cried. Luckily she didn't notice my basketball gear.
She soon fell fast asleep in my arms and I turned on the tv and started to watch whatever was on. She snored softly. Drool dripping down from her mouth. I blushed lightly. And then lied down on the couch with her on top of me. She readjusted and got comfortable. I finally fell asleep.
Luckily it was a Friday night, so that meant no school tomorrow. Yes!!!!! We both woke up at the same time. 12:15 pm.
"Good morning beautiful." I said sheepishly. She blushed. I just realized we had never said that to each other for like 7 months.
"Hot shot." She retorted. I laughed and smiled while she yawned. I had no idea that my love for her would come back full force maybe even stronger. She was beautiful. Damn, and maybe she could still be mine.
"Hey Ashley, can I ask you somethin?"
"Yeah, anything." She smiled.
"Are we, like you know, dating?" I asked timidly. Trying my hardest to hide the desperation in my voice.
"Yeah, I guess we are." She smiled as she said that. I got up and walked over to see my dad and stepmom staring at me.
"Yes?" I asked nervously. They shook their heads as they saw the gear.
"13, again?" Dad asked. I nodded. He smiled and saw what coach had written.
'Dear Ferinde's,
I saw in the newspaper that you've had horrible loss, and I'm deeply sorry. I've decided that Anna is gonna get to play a season of her lifetime. I did a little snooping and read somethings that she has never been a team captain and she loves to play for, well jut to play, and that's the kind of player I want. She and aspiring talent and a great personality.
The other girls know that I've taped the back I her jersey and I won't give out any details of who she is. I'm terribly sorry about you're losses and the whole team knows so we are hear for her.
Warmest regards,
Mike Downing, girls varsity basketball team.
I almost jumped with joy. I wanted breakfast, so I got some life and a bowl and milk, and bam!!! Breakfast.
