I had my game at some high school I didn't know. So we had to leave at 11:15am, everyone was there. Ashley and I were in the way back. Steven and his one friend in the back. And dad with Alenka in the front, dad driving of course.
When we got there it was 12pm. Coach was waiting for us outside the gym. We weren't on our home turf, but we did have great talent, at least that's what the newspaper read this morning. I was nervous, the only way to get me from backing out was a promise of a kiss and dinner.
I mean come on!!! If you're hot girlfriend promised to kiss you and cook you dinner, you would do anything!! I know I would.
I was wearing my, taped, jersey and was with the other girls, when all of a sudden, they all started to huddle around me. They all hugged me. Telling me that they were sorry for everything I had been through in the past couple of days. I almost cried.
It was almost game time so we headed in.
Then it was time, time for me to shine. Coach told me that he needed ME to make a plan.
So I did what I was told.
"Okay girls, I heard this team is hard to beat. So I got a plan, the key thing is to look at their eyes an their feet, anticipate their movements, stop the ball, trap. For defense we're gonna play zone. For offense, you'll have two upper wings and two lower wings and the point. Got it. The people playing the two lower wings are, Marie and Amber, two upper wings are Casey and Bridget. And I'll play point.
"For defense, I'll play right wing, Casey okay center, Marie, left wing, and Bridget, play left block okay?"
"Okay!!!" They shouted in unison. Now it was time for the team captains to come out.
The weirdest thing was, Ashley's mom came to my game. She an Ashley were talking about things.
"Okay, we need the team captains," one ref ordered. I walked out and so did and tall girl from the other team.
"Shake hands." The ref said quietly. We shook and said good game. And thus the game begun.
