A LOVE that was patient was always rewarded. Iyon ang naging paniniwala ni Zhen mula nang mahalin niya si Corinne at mahalin siya nito pabalik. She had a fiery temper and a sharp tongue, but she also had a heart that's been hurt and a past dark enough to block light. Lahat ng nasa paligid niya ay nagduda kung kakayanin niya ba si Corinne given how extreme their relationship became. But Zhen loved that woman. And loving her meant loving her demons, too. Besides, she loved his, too.

Sa araw na iyon ay dalawang taon na silang kasal. They took it at Corinne's pace. Medyo mabagal kesa sa gusto niya but patience was his strongest suit and Corinne deserved the time and space. Pero siguro, may kung anong kabutihan siyang ginawa sa mundo at biglang nagbago ang ihip ng hangin ng buhay niya.

"You're so sated. Nakakapanibago," ani ng asawa niya habang naghahanda ng agahan nila. Nakapikit siya't nakadantay ang ulo niya sa balikat nito habang nakayakap sa likod nito.

"Mine, pakikurot nga ako. Baka nananaginip lang ako. Totoo ba iyong kagabi?"

Nakaramdam siya ng masakit na kurot sa tagiliran niya, nails jigging on his side.

Agad siyang napahiyaw at humiwalay sa asawa.

"Aray! Bakit may gan'on?" bulyaw niya.

"Why do you have to mention that?" nag-iinit na wika nito, namumula ang tenga at unti-unti na ring namumula ang mukha.

Sumilay ang pilyong ngiti niya sa mukha. "You're so beautiful when you blush."

Lalong namula ang mukha nito na ikinatawa niya't inilakad naman nito palayo. Bitbit nito ang ulam nila papunta sa dining table. Hindi niya napigilang matawa ng malakas. Madalang ang panahon na kaya niyang patahimikin si Corinne.

Keeping the widest smile he's ever worn, he ran his fingers through his hair and just stared at the walking body of his wife wearing his oversized shirt.

He remembered taking that shirt off...

Napalunok siya. Mismong siya ay nararamdaman ang pag-init ng mukha niya.

Zhen was no virgin (he lost it before meeting Corinne) and was by no means a saint. But making love to...no,with his wife beat all the fantasies he had as a boy and a man.

He's been in a relationship with Corinne for a total of 7 years—2 of those spent as a married couple. But not even once did he initiate something further than kissing. Zhen has once compared marrying Corinne to being in heaven but last night surpassed any form of happiness he's ever felt in his life. Oo, na-imagine na niya iyon ng ilang beses na pero parang ni hindi manlang nabigyan ng hustisya ng imagination niya ang naramdaman niya kagabi. A primal, possessive side of him was somehow activated and he woke up with the need to love, protect, and cherish Corinne better.
