Rye 🐝 -
"You look more nervous than I am, yet I'm the one meeting your parents." He chuckled before turning his attention to the road ahead.

"I'm not nervous." I lied unconvincingly while staring out of the car window.

"You're playing with your bracelet again. You always do that when your nervous." He stated simply as I looked down at my hands to realise he was right. Dang it, he knows me too well.
I released the bracelet and dropped my hands as heat rushed to my cheeks, causing him to laugh lightly.
Reaching across, he gently took my hand as we continued to drive towards the house, his gesture calming my nerves slightly.

"It's gonna be fine." I stated questioning whether I was reassuring him or myself. He squeezed my hand gently as we pulled into the familiar driveway, the nerves quickly finding their way back into my into my system.
Climbing out of the car, Rye reached for my hand once again and for the first time that night I could faintly see his own nervousness appearing behind his seemingly calm features.

"Y/N!" I turned to the open door, seeing my parents stood there with bright smiles.

"Hey!" I greeted and walked over, releasing Rye's hand to give them both a hug.

"And you must be Ryan." My father turned to him, his expression unreadable.

"It's nice to meet you Mr and Mrs Y/L/N." He held out his hand as my mother shook it eagerly with a grin but my father gave a more half-hearted shake.

"Please, call me Y/M/N! And this is
Y/F/N." He seemed to relax slightly at my mothers welcoming voice.

"Come in, come in!" She grinned and rushed us into the familiar house.

"So, what's your job, Ryan?" My dad looked up from his plate and over at Rye besides me while picking up his glass of water.

"I'm in a band." He smiled with his reply before we both turned to my dad who almost choked on the water in his glass.

"That's your full time job?" My dad asked while still coughing slightly.

"Yes, Sir." I looked at Rye, who's face had fallen slightly and squeezed his hand gently before looking at my mum who was looking at my dad with an unreadable expression.

"I thought that was your part time thing... like a hobby." My dad mumbled as he continued to eat his food. Rye seemed at loss for words, the worry clear on his features.

"They're a really great band, and they're doing so well." I told my parents happily as Rye turned to me slightly with a gentle and grateful smile.

"And how long will that last?" My dad mumbled while setting his knife down and refusing eye contact as I looked at my dad in shock.

"Y/F/N!" My mum hissed quietly as Rye looked down with a slight look of hurt on his face.

"Well I'm right, am I not?" He asked confidently as I felt the anger bubble inside of me.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked before Rye could try to calmly defend himself.

"Yeah I get the attraction, you're a nice guy and you're getting famous, but how long is that going to last? The fame gets to your head, you lose your five minutes of fame and then my daughter is stuck with a boy who can't provide for her." He shrugged casually as Rye stared at him wide eyed.

"Dad!" I choked out as he glanced at me and sighed slightly.

"Mr Y/L/N, I swear to you that Y/N will always come first, before anything else. Including my career." Rye replied calmly as I continued to glare at my dad.
