I flinched slightly at the sound of thunder breaking the silence. The storm had rolled in about twenty minutes ago and it was no secret that I hated storms. Everything about them put me on edge, the booming of the thunder and the flashes of lightning, what is there to like?!

I reached out, picking my phone up from the bedside cabinet and squinting slightly at the brightness of the screen. Once my eyes had adjusted, I noticed a message from Harvey lighting up the screen. 

Hey, the storms getting pretty bad. You alright? Xx

I hesitated before sighing and typing an honest reply.

Not really. I hate storms :( xx

After sending the text my phone remained silent. With a small sigh I set it back on the bedside table and buried myself further under the covers, pulling them up to my chin. 

There was a loud crash of thunder and I just about managed to conceal a small yelp when a bright flash of lightning outside of the window lit up the room. I sunk further into the bed, nestling my face into the covers as if it would bring some sort of safety, although I knew full well it wouldn't. 

I let out a small scream, shooting up as something dropped onto the bed beside me. 

"Shh! Shh! It's me, it's me!" I let out a sigh of relief at the familiar sound of Harvey's voice, willing my heart to calm down. 

"How did you get in?" I choked out after I'd finally started to breathe normally again. 

"You left the front door unlocked." He smiled sheepishly with a small shrug as I looked down at my hands in my lap, hoping the darkness would hide the signs of heat spreading across my cheeks at that moment. 

The room lit up quickly with a few flashes of lightning and I jumped, looking over at the window with slightly widened eyes.

"C'mere." Harvey mumbled, placing his arms around me comfortingly and gently pulling me to lay down beside him. I cuddled into his side, immediately beginning to calm down as I was engulfed by his warmth. 

"Thank you for coming, you didn't have to." I mumbled quietly, finally beginning to feel tiredness take over. 

"Of course I did. I couldn't go to sleep knowing my girl was afraid." He mumbled and I glanced up to find a small smirk on his face. I rolled my eyes with a small smile and laid my head back on his chest, eyes drifting closed. 

"I love you." I mumbled with a small yawn, causing him to chuckle lightly. 

"I love you too." He pressed a small kiss to my forehead as I finally drifted into a peaceful sleep, the worries of the storm no longer playing on my mind.
