She hurried her steps down the hall; going farther into the school while everyone else was heading out. She held onto her books tightly towards her chest as her bag kept hitting the side of her hip with every step she took. She felt anxious to get to the music room, she hadn't been able to practice for quite some time. The crowded hall was full of gossip today. No one could stop talking about the incident that happened this morning with the golden boy; he had punched one of the grade twelves for 'disrespecting' his girlfriend. The difference between Alexandra Moore and the whole student body was that she could see through the bullshit. Not only that but, her brother and her were pretty tight so she knew what really happened. But she wasn't going to get into that. Telling the truth would only cause for her to get attention, the attention she didn't want or need. Being in the spotlight was not something she craved, but rather feared. It was unknown and she wanted to keep it that way.
Finally, she had reached the music room, the piano getting all of her attention as she walked in. She practically threw her bag onto a chair as she made her way to the piano. She rested the old notebook full of her thoughts and music on the piano stand so she'd be able to read what it said. She sat on the stool for the piano, bringing herself closer to it. She played her finger on the keys lightly, letting her eyes close for a second as she took in a deep breath. She looked at the door, making sure to hear no more footsteps or voices in the hall. Alexandra was a very private person. She had never shown or sang any of her music to anyone, her brother and best friend excluded. She especially didn't want people to listen to this song. She had written this song when she was thirteen, being in love with fairy tales and such. Now that she's seventeen, she didn't want people to think that she still believed in all that crap, even if she did a little. Her eyes were still on the door, hearing the last of people walk out.
She looked back at the piano and started playing a few keys. She let her fingers move flawlessly for every note. She made seem all too easy since it really was for her.
There was a time when I was alone
Nowhere to go and no place to call home
The lyrics left her lips in song, her eyes still glued onto the keys in concentration. She didn't want to mess up in the middle of it, she wanted to have a full run through without messing it up. She felt her eyebrow crunch up as she hit a key.
He came to me with the sweetest smile
Told me he wanted to talk for a while
He said
'Peter Pan that's what they call me,
'I promise that you'll never be lonely'
And ever since that day
The keys speed up as she let her eyes remove themselves from the keys and rise to the white ceiling above her. She loved this song. It reminded her of the days where she once felt whole and happy. It reminded her of the days where she hoped for Peter Pan to actually come so she could fly away with him. She smiled slightly, letting the song take over her.
They say to me
'Away from all of reality'
Neverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are...
In mid-lyric, she heard chairs crashing into each other, making her eyes go wide, shooting her head up in the direction of the noise. She felt her heart skip a beat as she met eyes with the warm chocolate ones she had grown used to. She started to get her books from the piano stand and headed for the chair she had put her bag on. As she went for her bag, a hand stopped her.
