my favourite chapter...I love these two

Benji walked into the crowded halls on a mission to find Emmeline. Emmeline is Alex's best friend since the age of five when they met in pre-k. They have been there for each other ever since but now, there was a strain in the friendship. Al and Em haven't spoken in the last few weeks and it was starting to worry her. Her best friend hasn't been the same since Leo lashed out.

Al was the kind of person who swore to never let a boy affect her life in any way. After falling for Leo and then having her heart broken by him, everything changed for her. She wasn't acting like herself anymore. Emmeline decided it was best to give the girl some space since pushing her to talk wasn't working.

Benji had decided to take things into his own hands. He needed for both his closest friends to get better because the way they were now wasn't good for them. He knew that the only way he could ever get his plan to work was with Emmeline's help. Even though they hadn't spoken in weeks, he felt as if what they had was enough for her to help him.

Emmeline and Benji's relationship was almost as complicated as Leonardo's and Alexandra's; the only difference being they hadn't cheated on each other. They weren't known either considering the fact it was something hidden from everyone else. They were just as crazy in love as Leo and Al; maybe even more if possible.

They had an amazing time together but he still felt as if it was better to keep a secret. Something inside of him wasn't ready to let her fully in when she was ready for him to have all of her. Now they treated each other as if they were strangers.

Benji turned into the hallway of Emmeline's locker, finding her putting books into her book bag. Her hair was tucked behind her ear as she lowered her head, struggling to stuff her books in. Her makeup was nicely done and her outfit consisted of the school uniform; a green, black, and yellow skirt and a tucked in, white top with a blazer over it. She looked perfect as always to him. She would always be perfect. He let his lips lift into a small smile as he noticed her tongue was sticking out a little.

He stood next to her, his figure standing taller than her. He took the bag and book from her, trying to help her out. He was able to stuff the book easily into the book bag before giving it back to her. She looked at him startled and confused, not expecting to see him other than in the one period she has him in.

They stared at each other for a second, not knowing what to say next. The boy had come with a mission; to get her to help him help Al and Leo. At the moment his mind went blank and was filled with apologies to give to the girl. Everything that he had prepared to say went unnoticed in his mind as he stared deep into her dark chocolate, brown eyes.

She removed her eyes from his and stared into her locker. Her thoughts were stumbling onto each other as she tried to form words to say. She closed her locker before putting the book bag on her shoulder and looking at him once again, trying to buy herself some time to think of something to say. "Thanks, for that," she said with a wavering smile, her voice just above a whisper before turning around.

"Wait, Em!" he said quickly, grabbing her hand gently, causing her to turn and face him. "I'm sorry," Her features showed that she felt uncomfortable, having had this conversation with the boy over and over again. It always ended the same.

"What are you talking about? You don't have to apologize for anything since you never do anything," the sarcasm in her voice was evident. She was growing tired of having this conversation with him. He always seemed to never really say what he meant, he would never show it either.

"But I did," he said, his voice stern and his eyes never breaking contact with hers. "I shouldn't have been trying to hide you from everyone. I should have been honest about my feelings to not just you but everyone else. I should have-"
