Minghao

I looked in the mirror and thousands of emotions washed over me. First of all, I have never worn something that ugly. It was mans wear and on top of that the most used and old things I have ever seen. Growing up the only clothing my mother gave me were cute little dresses and even when I did work in the garden or helped clean up the house I would wear skirts and short sleeved shirts.

I only know about those wird garments named trousers through the books I read. But I have to say I looked surprisingly good in them and they were shockingly convenient. I could finally do a high kick without having to worry about flashing my underwear. And the clothes were well worn in, so the fabric was nice and soft.

However, the most surprising thing was how it made me look like. I suddenly looked a lot like Jun, was that how thief's were supposed to dress? If yes there were a lot more thief's on the streets than I had imagined. Maybe my mother was right when she had warned me about the outside world.

I opened the curtains and stepped out of the dressing cabin.

„Great, no one will recognize you", Jun grinned at me.

„But sir, you have such a beautiful wife, how can you dress her like that. She looks like a men", the shop assistant said.

„That's the plan. We'll take it. You can keep her dress it should be more than enough to pay for the clothes".

„Yes of course", the small man bowed and disappeared behind me to take the dress I left in the cabin.

I used the moment of us being alone and whisper-shouted at Jun, „Jun. I don't want these clothes. I don't want to dress as a thief!"

„What makes you think that this is how thief's dress like?"

„Well it's what you are wearing so I thought all thief's dress like that. Who else would wear these things called ... trousers".

Jun laughed, „Just any other man out there. That's what men are wearing. Have you never seen them on anyone before?"

I shook my head, „No, I only ever met or even saw my mother and Mary and they always wore dresses or skirts. Do men not wear dresses too?"

„What?!", he laughed, „God no! Why should we? Those are woman's clothes!"

My heart sung. What if I was wrong all my life? Could those pants really be ment for men? Then why did my mother always dress me in dresses and skirts? I suddenly felt so dumb. Was I dressed wrong all my life? What else was I doing wrong?

„I want my dress back. I don't want these clothes".

„Hey", Jun looked a lot more apologetic then just seconds ago, „Don't worry you don't have to be a men for long. Just go along with it for a little while, as soon as we are far enough away from your house we can get you nice dresses again. Now come on, we still have to buy a few things and I don't want to stay here longer then necessary".

He took my hand and led me out of the shop, out on the streets and back to the market.

I stayed quite, but my head was filled with questions and the meet to get some answers.

Jun

I was shocked when I saw Rose leave the dressing cabin, she didn't look like her old self at all. No, she had totally turned into a men and the pants and shirt fitted her surprisingly well.

I mentally pat my shoulder, well done Junhui. This way her mother will definitely not recognize her. Not that we would be save from her to a hundred percent but it would be a lot more difficult to find us now.

Now we would only have to get a bit of food and water and we could finally get away from this place, all disguises aside, I don't like how close we still were to Roses home and I was sure her mother couldn't be very far. Scary which.

The purchases went quite well, I got some bread and cheese together with two bottles of heater and some salt as well as a small pot for cooking. This should be more then enough for us until we got to the next city and if we got hungry I could always catch a rabbit or squirrel or at least find some eatable plants or mushrooms.

„Good, we are all done here. Is there anything else you need? Other wise it would probably be best for us to get going. I want to get to the castle as soon as possible".

„The castle?", Rose looked surprised.

„Yeah. It functions as the capital and I need to get there for", is halternd in my sentence, „ for work purposes".

„Are you going to steal something from there?! Are you thinking about stealing from the king?!!"

„Shush! Do you want everyone around here to hear you. And no, I am not stealing from the king. I like him. I don't steal from people I like".

She snorted.

„What? I didn't steal from you".

„You stole me, didn't you?"

„That's debateable. Also, I like you, but I don't like your mother, so I didn't break my code".
