Steve's PoV
"We're the Avengers. We can bust arms dealers all day, but that up there. That's...that's the end game. How were you planning on beating that?"
"Together."
"We'll lose."
"Then we'll do that together too."
Tony and I stood opposite each other. The tension was apparent in the air but not only because of Ultron. I saw the way him and Aliza were today, and I didn't like it. They spent the duration of the party together and I couldn't help but get angry everytime time I saw them together. I've noticed that her and Stark are close and she seems happy when she's with him, but that doesn't make my blood boil any less.
"Ultron's calling us out. And I'd like to find him before he's ready for us. The world is a big place, let's start making it smaller."
Just as I was about to leave the room, the lights started flickering and there was sounds of static coming from Tony's open laptop.
"Stark?" Clint questioned.
"This isn't me." He was furiously tapping away on the keys but that didn't help. Suddenly, a video popped up.
"Hello again Avengers. It's unfortunate our last meeting got cut short."
"Ultron."
"By now you've probably figured out that I've cleared you guys out."
"Can you track him?" I whispered to Stark.
"I'm trying!" He exasperated back
"You guys are working so hard to stop me. You want to save the world but how can humanity change when you don't seem to want to evolve? There is only one path to peace. Your extinction."
"Stark, you get him?"
"No, I'm trying to get through but the most i'm getting are a few buggy suits that got out."
"I'm giving the human race a chance to improve and you just don't want to. I see a better world. A world without destruction and damage. A world of peace because it wasn't afraid of change."
"The world will be better. Once we get rid of you." I sternly responded but still keeping an eye on Stark who looked frantic.
"You know, Captain. You seemed to be the only one tonight who was protecting somebody other than themselves. That shield sure did come in handy. Tell me, what's it made out of again?" My breath halted and I stepped forward with my arms by my side and hands clenched.
"Don't bring her into this!" I shouted.
"It's too late. There's no room for the Avengers. There's no room for the weak. But she's strong. Maybe I'll keep her."
"Stark! Find him." I exasperated.
"Captain. It's not that simple!" He was running from screen to screen trying to get a location.
"If you really want to know where I am, you should look a lot closer to home."
There was more static and the video cut off. There was a sudden beeping and Stark whipped his phone out. "All I was able to get were a few rogue legionnaires that got away. I've tracked them." I saw Stark visibly freeze.
"Stark. Where are they?" I demanded. He looked up and his eyes widened before he looked at me with a sorrowful expression.
"Your apartment building."
Aliza's PoV
I woke up to the sound of my ringtone. My vision was hazy and my muscles were weak but I dragged myself to reach out for my bedside table and picked up my phone. I closed my eyes and layed back.
