Twelve.

"Please don't be mad at me." Hayley told her friend.

To say that Vincent Lachlan was mad would be an understatement. He was fuming and if Hayley had been a man she was sure Vince would have already punched her. After telling her he had a bone to pick with her she went ahead and told him to come over since Alexis was having a bad day and she needed some cheering up. He exploded when she gave him her new address and Hayley could hear the hurt in his voice. Even though they had been friends for years she had hidden things from him. Important things that Vince would have appreciated knowing and now he was mad.

He stepped in then closed the door pinning her to it. His hands were on either side of her head and he glared at her. Hayley was caged in and she could have pushed him away if she felt threatened but Vince would never hurt her. So she let him cool down before saying anything. After a few minutes of staring at her he sighed and leaned in touching his forehead with hers. "I thought we were friends Hayley. More than friends" he said his voice sad.

"We are friends. I just didn't want to worry you."

"Why? Since when have I not ever worried about you?"

"Hey I'm sorry. Now I see that I should have come to you in the first place. Forgive me?" she told him placing her hand on his cheek. She felt guilty for keeping secrets but knowing Vince he would have moved heaven and earth for her. Appreciation aside, that wasn't his responsibility. That's your pride talking. Her conscious told her making her feel more guilty.

"What the hell is going on here?" JR asked trying to reign in his anger.

"Fuck off Junior. This is none of your business" Vince said without even looking back at him. When he showed up he knew whose house this was. After all they had grown up together.

"Why are you here Lachlan? And get off of her." JR was gritting his teeth. How did Hayley know Vincent and why were they so cozy with each other? His jealousy was seconds away from decking the other man. Maybe he'll be lucky and knock off his teeth. That way Hayley wouldn't bother looking at him. Real mature JR. Get a grip.

"Vince you're here." Alexis said breaking the tension in the room.

"Hey. How's my favorite person in the world" Vince said finally stepping away from Hayley and picked up Alexis. "What's with the mask? Are we playing doctor today?" he asked Alexis who just looked at her mom.

"Can we talk about that later?" Hayley asked in a small voice. If she thought Vince was mad earlier, he was going to flip after she told him about her daughter. So maybe it was best if they were alone when she broke the news to him.

"Hayley?" He asked in a warning voice. Sensing his anger Alexis grabbed his face and asked him in a loud voice that wasn't necessary.

"Let's go. I want to show you my new room, it's so big and really pretty." Of course he knew it was just a diversion. He gave Hayley a look that said 'we are not done' then let Alexis lead the way to her bedroom.

"How do you know him?" JR asked nodding his head in the direction Vince and Alexis went.

"None of your business." Hayley snapped. She wasn't in the mood to start arguing with JR and his expression said that was exactly what he wanted.

"I would go as far as to say it's my business since you were shoving your tongue down my throat not a few hours ago." he told her but regretted opening his big mouth because it was obvious now he was jealous.

"It was one kiss that didn't mean a thing and should have never happened. Get over it because it won't be happening again." and with that she left him standing there fuming. And a little unsettled because he wanted it to happen again. JR went to the study his mind whirling with thoughts of Hayley and Vincent.
