Nerves coursed through Cress' short body as she stood in the cavernous space. People were bustling about her; different sizes of luggage trailing behind them. While others made a beeline for check ins, Cress remain rooted in her spot.

She had already found what she decided was the best standing space. Her direct view of the escalators coming from arrivals infrequently blocked when an unfortunately tall person walked passed. While raising onto the top of her toes did little, her trained eye was unlikely to miss what she was looking for.

Her eyes darted to the many clocks along the wall. Cress let out a sigh. His plane landed a few minutes ago and despite her eagerness to be earlier, it was doubtful that somehow Thorne would be able to get through the airport that quickly.

Cress darted around several stacks of suitcases and fell into one of the seats lining the walls; ensuring that her clear view still remained. After taking a couple deep breaths to try and tame her uncontrollable heart beat, Cress brought out her phone as a temporary distraction.

Involuntarily, a smile broke out on her face as she saw her lock screen, an event which occurred regularly. Staring at the photo, she could remember the warmth on her face and sand under her toes from the summer several years ago Cress had last seen Thorne. Before he left for his pilot training.

Their daily messages were invaluable to Cress; yet, there was still something missing. Without letting herself get too distracted, Cress replied to several messages she had missed in her excitement.

A sudden vibration in her hand had her eyes darting to the top of her phone screen:

Captain: Just got my suitcase!! On my way

For a split second, Cress froze; utterly paralysed as she took in the message's meaning. Then all at once she sprung back into animation; quickly stuffing her phone in her pocket and raising from her seat.

She quickly began making her way across the room looking out for a familiar face to emerge at the top of the escalators.

All of a sudden - there!

Thorne appeared, a small suitcase on the escalator step behind him and a large carry-on slung across his shoulders. Despite his outwardly relaxed appearance, his eyes ran over the crowds below searching, searching, searching.

Cress' heart leapt out of her chest as he came into view. Distracted taking in his sudden appearance, Cress muttered apology after apology for bumping into other passengers.

He looked taller than she remembered, but surely he couldn't have grown that much in the time he was gone. What kind of space food had they been feeding him? His hair seemed shorter than she recalled his usual style being.

The further the escalator descended and the closer she got, more and more aspects Cress noted of other differences she had missed. But one thing hadn't changed.

He was still Thorne.

When he had nearly reached the bottom of the ride, his eyes suddenly met hers and almost instantaneously a grin spread across his face. Cress' own smile widened, enough that she couldn't care about being embarrassed over her blushing face.

As if by magic, a clear stretch of ground between the crowds appeared before Cress causing her to break out into a sprint. Thorne, jumped the last decline of the espalier and too began running, his suitcase wheels bumping along behind him.

Within seconds, the pair were colliding. Thorne's luggage was soon dumped on the floor as he wrapped his arms around Cress. cress automatically embraced him, burying her face in his neck to hide her growing smile. She felt Thorne laughing beneath her fingertips and let out a shriek when he suddenly picked her of the floor and spun her around. His arms securly around her waist, Cress' wraped around his neck.

"Thorne!" Cress emitted around a mixture of laughs and screams, "What are you doing? Put me down!"

After a final spin she was finally returned to the safety of the ground, yet Thorne's hands didn't move. Neither did Cress'.

Cress looked up at Thorne to find him staring openly at her, his chest heaving from the sudden exercise and his face split by a shining smile.

"Hi," she whispered suddenly nervous, so at odds at the public display they had just put on.

Thorne's eyes seemed to sparkle at her, "Hi."

He slowly rose a hand to her face, carefully brushing some of her hair behind her face, his eyes never leaving hers.

"I've missed you."

Cress' blush was sparked off again, "Me too", she quickly replied.

"You know," Thorne began, a hint of mischief in his eyes, "I've realised something."

"Oh?" Cress' vocabularly suddenly became limited.

"I think, while I love flying, I want to get a job closer to home."

"Home?" Cress questioned, her eyebrows scrunching together.

"Yes," Thorne's voice was almost a whisper and he bent his head forward towards hers, "You."

Suddenly Thorne's lips connected with hers sending fireworks off in her brain.

Thorne pulled back his eyes darting to hers looking for reassurance a question in them.

"I'd like that." Was all Cress replied before she pulled him back in for another kiss.

Ok, so first hello! It has been over 2 years since I last updated this story so yeah a long time! Honestly, I have been absolutely blown away by the amount of lovely comments I have received on this requesting for more and really it has motivated me to write some more.

This is something super quick written at like 1 in the morning (please don't judge my bad sleeping habits) and yeah I'm sure its a kind of disappointing update but hopefully there will be more and better updates in the future that won't wait years (sorry again)

I just really want to say thank you to every single person who has commented because I promise I have read every single one and each one has given me a little more motivation to write more (hopefully during actual daylight)
