I was originally very happy. That was until I learned that "a few boys" from my brothers' friend group translates to eight. Eight boys. That does include Kyle and Blake but that still leaves six other boys that I, if at all, barely know. When I learned that there were gonna be a bunch of strangers, my mood flipped. We were waiting in the theater for the others to arrive.
"You'll be fine." Kyle tried to pick up my mood.
"My brothers won't even let me near Blake but I'm allowed to be around six boys that I don't even know?" I was mainly muttering to myself but Kyle was listening.
"They're probably gonna ban them from looking at you anyways, Bee." Kyle, once again, tried to make me feel better about the situation.
"Oh great, so take me to the movies with a bunch of guys, then threaten them, then punch them if they look at me. Perfect." I was now being a bit dramatic but nonetheless I rolled my eyes.
"You're overreacting." Kyle rubbed my shoulder while Blake watched with an amused expression while sipping on his soda.
"Get that stupid little look off your face." I growled to Blake, who looked a bit shocked but then he grew a smile. However, I remember when he got mad over something Axel said about me. So I used his jealousy to my advantage. "I'd like to see you smirking when they flirt with me." The confidence in my voice was so insanely fake since I'm so used to being looked past, but it was enough to fool Blake who now had a sour look on his face.
"I'll beat their ass." He snarled, it was quite funny really, seeing him so quickly upset by just the mere mention of such things.
"Mmm, really? I think my brothers would surely ban me from seeing you if you did that." I took a sip from my own soda now that me and Blake had switched our previous expressions. Kyle was also watching our conversation with a small smile.
Me and Blake stared at each other but we broke it apart when we heard a bunch of booming voices echo through the theater. We all stood up so we could buy tickets and as soon as I stood up, Blake was much closer than he should have been.
"You're way too close." I muttered to him.
"And there are way too many boys." He replied in an instant.
"Aww, are you jealous?" I teased and he narrowed his eyes.
"We've already discussed this." He pointed an accusing finger at me.
Within seconds of my brothers' arrival I was ripped away from the proximity of Blake. Thankfully, they didn't care much about how close Kyle was.
After what felt like hours but was actually just a few minutes, we had tickets and bought several large bags of popcorn. It took a good few minutes for everyone to get sorted into their seats.
I was lucky enough to be sat near Kyle and everyone was shocked when Blake was seated on my other side. When we were sat next to each other not a single word was traded. We were both confused and didn't want to test our luck so we just kind of shut up and ignored it. It quickly made a bit more sense when Cole and Alex were sat behind us, both of them glaring at Blake; they were basically waiting for him to do something stupid.
The movie dragged on for what felt like hours, I blame this feeling on the fact that I knew my brothers were behind us. I felt that if I muttered the smallest word to Blake then all hell would break loose. I was exaggerating, of course, but I did not want to test the waters. When the movie was finally finished, all my popcorn was gone but that was Kyle's doing. I, however, didn't touch the popcorn. Nor did I drink my soda during the movie. The blanket sat folded on my lap the whole time since I was already sweating.
While exiting the theater, my brothers all eyed me and Blake carefully, it only ended when Kyle, Blake, and I got into Kyle's car.
"Well that was a great movie." Kyle was happy and giddy as he started the car. "So how did you guys like your seats." He winked but I just pursed my lips.
"It was," I thought of the many things I could call it: weird, awkward, hard to focus, interesting, "interesting."
"Why interesting?" Kyle laughed. This time Blake decided to answer.
"Her brothers were watching me like hawks." Blake almost shivered at the memory.
"Did you expect any less?" Kyle once again laughed but this time he was laughing because Blake should have known.
"Well yeah! If they just sat me somewhere else then they wouldn't have to watch me." His hands were flying around the car to make a point.
"They did it just to scare you." Kyle informed Blake, but I knew that was false.
"No they didn't. If they wanted to scare him they would have threatened him. Watching someone isn't really seen as scary when you know them." I put in my input while throwing the now useful blanket over my body.
The ride home, unlike the ride here, was much nicer. We were all tired so Blake and I fell asleep within minutes. Kyle had to suffer through staying awake but he got to listen to whatever music he wanted.
I don't know how it happens but whenever we arrive home I always wake up just as the car pulls into the parking lot. We all got out of the car and stretched then Kyle helped me fold the blanket while Blake watched. Lazy ass. The blanket was not so carefully tossed into the back, despite the fact we folded it. I gave Kyle a hug before turning to give Blake one as well.
I trudged into the house to take a nap since being in a dark room for at least an hour, being stressed, and going on a mini road trip were all the perfect mix to make me tired.
