We didn't talk the whole way home from the doctors, nor did we talk on our way to the MRI. My mom has been silent and it is scaring me. I am sitting in the waiting room filling out a form on another one of these stupid clipboards. It's just asking me to write my name, and age etc. they made me change into a hospital robe. I'm not allowed wearing any metal, and, LUCKY ME!, part of my bra is made of metal. So, I'm feeling pretty loose here.

"Skye Ossen." Nurse Avril comes out of nowhere. Man, that woman is nation-wide! I follow her into a room where a giant white tube is. A table is sticking out. She motions to the table, so I lay down and put my head on the pillow that is at the end. She sticks a cushion under my legs and lays a cloth over my eyes.

"Some people get claustrophobic." she explains.

"We are going to put you in this magnetic tube so it will take pictures of your brain. The machine is very loud, so do not get disturbed by the various noises. We are going to do a couple different pictures, so before every one I will tell you how long it will take, and how many until we're over." she finishes and I feel the table get pushed in. Then I hear the clicking of the door and I lay there. There is no sound. This isn't so bad! i think, and I let out the breath that I didn't know I was holding. I here her voice come over the loudspeaker.

"This is the first one and it will take about 20 minutes" I hear a click. And then the banging starts. It sounds like there are 20 jackhammers, banging on the sides of the tube. I hate it. But I endure it for the 20 minutes, and then the other 7 pictures, that sound different each time.

later, the table slides out and the cloth is removed from my eyes.

"we will have the test results sent to your doctor within a week" Nurse Avril says. Then I get changed (back into my bra, thank goodness!) and I go home. Mom is still silent.
