#19, His Enigma

"You did what?! Are you crazy? I mean, I always knew you are insane but still!" A female voice speaks and I stir.

  "Oh my God Cassie, keep your voice low. Don't disturb her." Another voice says. 

"Sorry Mae, but this is too much! He literally kidnapped her!" The previous voice says in a harsh tone. 

"No. I didn't kidnap her. I have her consent for kidnapping." A male voice says.

"Consent for kidnapping? What does that even mean?!" The female voice whispers harshly. 

I close my ears with my hands and scrunch my nose. I still had the pounding headache. I open one eye slowly, and a strong, deep golden light penetrates my eye. Where am I? I am pretty sure I am not in a car anymore. I was lying down on a softer and more comfortable surface. I turn to my side and close my eyes again.

 I was still quite sleepy and right now sleep was my first priority. I will deal with these strange people later. 

I release a deep breath and hear someone say, "it's breathing." Shooting my eyes open I see someone staring at me up close. I jerk up and sit a bit intimidated. 

"Ray! You scared her!" A woman with blonde hair says. I look at them wide eyed. The man, whom I suppose is Ray, gets up from his squatting position beside the couch. They all stop talking and look at me. It was really awkward, being surrounded with unknown people. Especially when they are staring at you like you are some kind of a strange creature and they have no idea what to do, whether to call the zoo authorities or run for their lives. The last part of the statement makes me chuckle. 

"Is her drug hangover over or not?" The guy named  Ray asks Asher and he shrugs. 

"It is, even though it's usually hard to distinguish between her normal and drug induced behaviour." He says. 

After a moment of silence I decide to break it. "H-Hey!" I say with a forced smile. "Nice to meet you all, I guess..?" I laugh awkwardly.

They keep looking at me with an unwavering expression. 

Wait...are they actually thinking about calling the zoo authorities?

Asher nudges the blonde woman and she jumps. "Oh Hi!" She comes over and gives a huge suffocating hug.

"Hi Cara! Welcome to the clan!" She face palms, "I mean welcome here! My name is Cassie." I smile at her. She was really bright. 

The Ray guy comes over next to her and holds out his hand. "Hello Cara, you can call me Ray. I am Cassie's husband."  He says and pulls her in for an affectionate side hug. I politely shake his hand and he returns a dimpled smile. 

Oh! So he is 'The Ray'! I remember hearing a lot about him from Daniel since they both are corporate lawyers. I also have a few vague memories of school, he was the wild one always held up for some mischief.  

Finally the third unknown person in the room introduces herself. "Hey! I am Mae! Though you already must be unknowing." She smiles and gives a gentle hug. 

I stare at her confused. "We met once before, it was raining that day and your groceries were ruined?" She tells in a soft voice. I face palm remembering. "Right! I am so sorry ma'am!" I quickly sit up straight and hastily comb my hair with my fingers, trying to look as presentable as possible. 

"Please don't call me ma'am." She blushes. "We are friends, okay?" 

"Yes ma-I mean Mae." I speak through gritted teeth. 

I look around and see I was in the living room, the hall was large with an open kitchen at one side and the other led to a glass wall opening into a garden, accompanied by a swimming pool. The whole place had a vintage touch to it.
