"I am surprised it took you so long Miss Cara Crazy Collins." Asher speaks from the other side.
"Hello to you too." I say formally. I hear him chuckle.
"It's such a fine day today, isn't it?"
"Yes, very fine." I speak sarcastically.
"So my dear Miss. Disdain, may I know why you decided to finally disturb me during my working hours?" He says and I roll my eyes getting irritated.
"You know, just wanted to ask if you would like to join me on a trip to the alternate universe." I say with mock enthusiasm.
"Oh wow! Really?" He mirrors my tone.
"Cut it out Asher! You know why I have called you. Other than that I have no interest in contacting you." I hiss.
"Hurtful words." He points out.
"No shit." I say in an obvious tone.
"My office, five o' clock sharp. I'll be waiting." He says and cuts abruptly.
"Wait-," but the phone was disconnected. Why do people love to hang up on me? Don't I get to put my opinion?
Whatever, the sooner it gets over the better.
I sit in my office chair, thinking about what all I will need to do. I take out a sheet of paper and a thin marker. It's my habit to doodle whenever I think about something, or even when my mind is blank. A restless gesture. Random lines, patterns and swirls or an insignificant word written over and over again.
The venue needs to be a large and grand one, a resort maybe. Unless they decide on a specific location like a beach..or a hill top. But there are no hills here, and what are you thinking Cara? Who will have a wedding on a hill top? Since the weather is rainy, the beach won't be too ideal too. The date isn't decided yet and I know there will at least be a month or maybe more. The rains will subside till then. Photographers, media..will also definitely be there. Unless they decided on a private, limited wedding-
"Ayo wassup!" I jump in my seat as my door is banged open and in walks Satan.
"Oh God, I thought the world was ending or something." I say and run a hand through my hair, calming my hyped heart.
She comes and plops down on the desk in front of me. "Hey! Your hair colour is fading! It's a deeper red now and your brunette roots are showing." Sarah says inspecting my hair. "Woah, it actually looks good!" She says in awe. I swat her hand and smile.
She was dressed in her usual street fashion attire. Though her destroyed jeans seemed even more destroyed than usual. Over all she looked like a daughter of Ares.
"Where have you been?" I ask going back to my doodling.
"Around." She says picking up a pen and trying it on the paper I was butchering.
She was studying law at a private university and currently, as informed by her, was working in some NGO which stood for victims of harassment and protection of child rights. She also taught self defence to girls and people willing to learn, did I mention she was also a state level shooter? On top of that she knew archery too.
Though her demeanor always seemed cold and fierce she is a really soft soul if you get to know her personally. You just have to break through the thick walls. I don't exactly remember how we became friends, she joined school in junior year. I guess it was our common interest in being asocial or our common dislike towards the popular clique. The clique Chelsea Price was an integral part of.
Oh, she also knew hacking. Once she hacked into the school security system to change her grades and once she sent an SMS to all students regarding the closure of school for a few days. God knows how the staff must have felt the next day when not even a single student showed up. She covered up well, she was never caught. Instead of her, the poor computer geek was suspected. I cannot count the number of times she hacked into my social media accounts and in of others as well. A thing she says she does when she is bored, wants to take revenge or just purely to entertain herself. She had hacked into Chelsea's account and leaked all her private chats. The girl didn't show up for about two weeks. Though Sarah was not interactive much with other people, she soon became feared by the populars and an idol for the others. I didn't know much about her family, it seemed a sensitive topic for her so I never pressed it. She lived with her aunt here.
