I was doing my usual Wednesday thing. I went to Barns&Noble to work on a book I'm writing. They have free WiFi and being surrounded by all the books helped motivate me.

Today, I decided to browse and pick out a few books after finishing a huge chapter in my book.

I stood in the romance section and looked at the more cheesy novels. Not too interesting. I kept moving, quickly scanning the back of the book, deciding if it was worth purchase, then either holding it or putting it back.

After a good half hour, I was still totally empty handed and the whole section lay behind me.

I gave up and went to the fantasy section instead. There was a guy standing there already, intently reading the inside cover of a book. I saw the title and freaked out.

"Assassin's Blade is such a good read. It starts off all of the Throne of Glass series," I said to him, totally excited.

"I know. The whole series is amazing. I can't wait for more. I already started the other series by Sarah J. Maas. A Court of Thorns and Roses. It's fantastic," he replied.

"I totally agree. I like it better than Throne of Glass."

"Me too... I'm Daniel, by the way, but you can call me Danny." He held out his hand for me to shake.

I took it and shook. "I'm (Y/N)."

"Are you in a rush?" he asked.

"Nope. Today is my day off."

"Would you like to get coffee? It's on me."

"You don't have to..." I trail off, blushing heavily.

"C'mon. We can talk about books. You have no idea how excited I am for Sarah's next book. I need a fellow fan to talk about it with."

I smiled. "Okay. I guess one cup of coffee wouldn't hurt."
. . . . .

"My daughter is Scarlett. She's my world. Right now she's at her mom's house. We aren't together. She's a great mom though. She takes good care of Scarlett," he says, with a sad tinge to his voice. I could tell he missed his daughter. "Do you like children?" he suddenly asked.

"I do like children. I was the go-to babysitter back when I lived in (home town). Kids loved me," I explained.

He looked thoughtful for a moment. "You aren't in a relationship, right?"

"Not at the moment, no," I respond, a light blush dusting my cheeks to a light rosey color.

"Then would you like to, maybe.... go out with me sometime?" He bit his lip nervously, his cheeks a light pink as well.

"I don't know... Do you like reading?," I answer rhetorically.

"Yes. I love reading."

"There's your answer. I'd love to go out with you." I pull my phone out and pull up the contacts.

We put our phone numbers in each other's phones and continue talking. We end up talking until the store closes. Then we hug goodnight.
