When I walk through the halls at school, I never make eye contact with anyone. Eye contact in the hallways either leads to an awkward wave or a conversation and I never seem to choose the right one. Someone would say, "Hey, Eli!" And I would walk right past them and just give them a wave, which then leads to extreme discomfort for both parties. I'll spend the rest of my day feeling like I broke their heart, and the other person will have to deal with the embarrassment of being rejected. So, why go through the possible humiliation when I could just keep my head down and hope nobody calls me out?
It's not like many people do, but I like to be prepared.
So when someone shoved a crumpled up paper in my hand in passing, I was a bit confused. I glanced around to see who it was, but it was far too chaotic for me to even get a good look around before I was pushed back into the pace of the crowd.
I ducked into an empty room and took out the paper ball labelled "Eli" in messy handwriting.
I flattened it out to find a list of what I could only assume were bands or artists. I recognised names like The Neighborhood and Frank Ocean, but there were a lot, like Declan McKenna or COIN, that I'd never even heard of. There were tons of names scribbled out randomly across the page, and at the bottom:
Just in case.
I smiled to myself and folded the paper back up, neater this time, and stuck it in my pocket.

Double update!!! Woo!! There are a few chapters that are really short, and when that happens I'll do a double update. Keep in mind no chapter is really a filler, so don't skip over one just because it's only a few pages long :)
Who do you think the note is from? Why did Eli get it? I'd love to hear your theories, even though I feel like this is a bit obvious. Still, give me your best shot.
As always thank you for reading. Don't forget to vote, comment, and add to your library so you never miss an update!!
