I thought this summer would be unforgettable, unbelievable, and incredible. I had no idea what was coming.

School was over and summer was starting to set in. My senior year was over and I was leaving this place and all the terrible memories that haunted me for good. By Thursday night, I had pack up my entire life, or most of it that would fit in my bright red Jeep Wrangler. Going to sleep seemed to be an ongoing fight with my nerves. Although, I was ready to leave the snooty, high class world that I grew up in for something more down to earth; it was still scary moving states away. In the morning, I was awake and ready to say goodbye to my family. This event was incredibility depressing time, but I was more so happy about getting away from the lifestyle and the people that surrounded me.
"Honey, are you sure this is what you want? You know you could always stay," my mother whispers as silent tears slipped down her cheeks.
I rolled my eyes. Of course, I knew this was the right decision for me. I could no longer stand to live under this house and all its rules and expectations.
" Yes, mom. I really do want this, otherwise I wouldn't be doing this," I stated matter of factly.
I hopped into my Jeep and sped off. I was no longer tied to this place and its hold it had on me. I hit the highway and head west to a new adventure, a new life, a new beginning. In a matter of ten hours, I would be at my new home with my best friend and her soon to be fiancé, if you asked me, with my dream college being only twenty miles away.

I drive slowly onto the dirt road that my GPS directed me to. I turn the wheel slightly following the bend of the road. I continue on the road for what seems like a mile before I stop suddenly at the sight of what people back home would describe as a shack. The house wasn't a mansion like all the houses I grew up around, but I wouldn't call it a shack either. It was a nice two story home, my nice two story home. The GPS beeps signaling that I've reached my destination, as if it wasn't obvious. I pull slowly into the driveway and put my car in park behind the blue Chevy Silverado. I turn off my Jeep and I take in the moment. This is it. I think. This is where my new life begins. I snap out of my day dreaming and grab my purse from the passenger seat and got out of the car.
The house was painted a dull bluish-gray color, with a big green yard that stretched on for what seemed like forever. I took in the view, and walk around Brett's truck to the front door. As I walk up, I swore I thought I saw the blinds move, but I shook it off and rationalized that it was just my eyes playing with me. I ponder slowly to the door and knocked three times. I wait in silence, until I hear the running of feet. The door cracks open a little bit, and a familiar voice calls out my arrival. The door opens and my best friend Addison surrounds me with her arms in a swift hug. She leans back and towers over me, she was always the tall one, and takes my face in her hands.
