As Lillian got stuck in the rush hour traffic of Makati, she glanced at her tummy and felt her maternal pride kick in.
Her baby growing inside her has been the best thing that has happened to her lately and if there's anything she's thankful of from her experience, it is her baby.
Then once again, she thought about Hugo.
'Ang kapal naman ng mukha nyang dalhin ang babae nya dun,' she thought to herself then she remembered what Armando told her.
'That son of a bitch will break your heart,'
And he was right. Like he usually is. From now on, she's no longer going to suffer about Hugo. It's not good for her and her child.
She needs someone to trust and there's only one person whom she trusts more than anything.
Instead of going home, she decided to drive to Forbes Park and tell Armando Berenguer everything.
...
It's been 4 weeks since Hugo has been in touch with Lillian and that was since the night they made love.
He felt like an ass. Lillian hasn't tried contacting him either and it's killing him.
Hugo has finally accepted the fact that that he has fallen in love with Lillian yet it scares the hell out of him. He has never felt this way for anyone before.
Ever since his father caught their mother having an affair with another man, he had a very hard time trusting women and for the first time, he's finally willing to open up, open up with Lillian. He even shared everything to Andrea.
Before he met Lillian, Andrea and Hugo made an agreement that if Hugo doesn't find the right one for him and Andrea doesn't as well, they'll get married for their own benefit. When Hugo told Andrea everything at Mang Leny's (she's never been there before as well), she gave him a tight hug and told him to never let Lillian go.
Grabbing his keys from his counter, that's what he intends to do and nothing could stop him.
...
Armando kept the stoic look on his face although deeply, he was devastated.
He felt devastated for Lillian. She reminded him so much of himself when he was younger: relentless, go-getter, and a hardworker who doesn't depend on anyone and that's why he'd grown fond of her like his own daughter.
"And if you're thinking what I'm thinking, no. Wala akong planong sabihin ang kalagayan ko kay Hugo and I expect you not to as well. That's all I'm asking. Alam mong ayokong maging obligasyon kahit kanino at kilala ko ang anak mo." she said weakly,
Armando agreed because he knew both Lillian and Hugo. Lillian is a very independent woman and if there's one positive trait he knows about his son, it's his sense of responisibility. Although he's not involved with the restaurant, he couldn't deny the fact that Hugo practically raised his brother Paolo when Armando decided to spend most of his time at work.
He thought about the time when Helena left him for another man. He made the biggest mistake of letting his children believe that everything was their mother's fault when honestly, it was all his when he told her about his true sexual orientation and how he could no longer satisfy her needs. Even now, he hated himself for being a coward he is by not telling his sons the truth about him and pushed himself away from them instead. He also hated the fact that deep inside, he knows the very reason why Hugo never settled down. How he never trusted women when it comes to his feelings and it's because Hugo's afraid that they'd leave him the same way Helena left Armando with another man.
Armando frowned, "Anong plano mo, Lillian?"
Lillian took a deep breath, "I'm going to need your recommendation, Armando. I'm planning on getting my MBA at NYU. Doon ko na rin siguro palalakihin ang bata,"
Armando sat straight, "Let's forget about Hugo for a second. We're talking about my grandchild here Lillian. Hindi ako papayag na hindi nya dala ang apelyidong Berenguer,"
Lillian was silent then Armando thought of a plan. A plan that would at least keep her son a part of his child.
"Marry me Lillian. And you know well without malice and obligation. Just for my grandchild's last name."
