Chapter Fifteen
Two months ago today Harry and I became ‘just friends’. Harry is now dating Elyse, and it kills me every second I see them together. I know I said no to Harry and I realize it was the worst decision of my life. Finally it was the day before the assembly performance.
“Class, I have picked the pair that will perform at tomorrow’s assembly. It will be—“
Drum roll.
“Harry and Emily”
My jaw dropped. What?! Is she crazy?! I have barely gotten through the last two months and now we have to perform it. I was the hardest song to sing with Harry. For the rest of the lesson I was getting congratulated by the people in my class. I was absolutely dreading this performance, Oh and did I mention it’s on Harry and Elyse’s anniversary, Great. As we set up the stage I started to feel nervous. Then I heard everyone coming to the assembly area, I ran into the music room. By the time I had to sing, I had gone numb. Harry and I walked on stage and I heard the boys cheering. They made me feel a bit better and made me smile. The song started to play and I sang first. Then Harry started and I watched him sing to Elyse. This was too much. I tried to keep smiling and not focus on it, but I couldn’t stop. When it was my turn to sing I froze, I wanted to cry and I ran offstage, with Harry chasing after me.
“Emily what are you doing?!”
“I’m sorry, I can’t do this anymore.”
I ran out of the music room where Tara and everyone else were waiting. I couldn’t even bring myself to turn around and look at him.
