SIRIUS & LILY

☆♒︎☆♒︎☆♒︎

"MCKENNA? ARE YOU AWAKE?" THE quiet and timid voice of Peter Pettigrew asked from his position around her bed, Lily rolled her eyes and faced the plump boy with an agitated look. "Does she look awake you, rat?" She hissed, Marlene patted Lily on the shoulder and gave Peter a pitiful look.

"Ignore her, she's just been a bit snappy since McKenna fell off her broom. We all have." She said as she let her eyes cast back onto the redhead who was still laying there in a death like state. "Do you – do you think she's okay?" Remus asked from the side where the boys had sat, nobody wanted answer, nobody wanted to say she was okay just to have their hopes crushed if she wasn't.

James cleared his throat and ran a hand through his hair, Sirius shot Remus an agitated look, one that mimicked Lily's perfectly. "Does she really look alright?!" He asked loudly, a glare on his face. The group seemed taken back at his outburst as they had never seen him act like that when it concerned McKenna's safety.

It was odd how everyone had changed in the two week span of McKenna Stein not being around. Lily Evans had become more rude and snapped at anyone who even asked about McKenna, Marlene McKinnon had spent her time in the library trying to complete homework and busying herself with random reading as a way to put the thoughts of her friend out of her head, Peter Pettigrew had spent his time finding out new spells to use when himself and McKenna were able to duel once again, Remus Lupin kept his nose in books to try and find out why her hair had changed colour that day so he could help her find out when she woke up, James Potter had decided quidditch was the best way to take his mind off of her so he trained everyday – before and after classes – to become a better Chaser and so much faster so he could catch her if she fell again, and Sirius Black had become the worst of them all; he hexed anyone who whispered her name, he didn't pay much attention to his classes, he failed to do homework and was in so many hours worth of detention after Hunter McLaggen was found.

Sirius no longer felt guilty for her fall, instead he realised it wasn't him, it was Hunter McLaggen. He had made it his personal mission to put the Ravenclaw into as much pain as possible, even if that meant he got so many hours of detention that he couldn't count; he simply didn't care. Sirius had caught him outside of Charms, his hands grabbed him by the back of the neck and dragged him into the boys' bathrooms, long story short, Hunter was in the hospital wing for a day or two.

"It's really affecting him, isn't it?" Lily whispered to Marlene as the two watched Sirius' jaw tighten as he stared at Remus. "It's weird, I don't think McKenna would like it." The blonde whispered back as they watched the Black boy deflate.

"Sorry, I'm – it's just –"

"It's alright." Remus said with a dismissive wave of his hand, a ghost of a frown etching onto his expressionless face. "We're all scared for her, don't worry about it." Sirius nodded his head as they all turned back to face McKenna, her face twitched slightly.
