I Have A Voice

i have a voice
its a voice that is silenced way too often
you're too young, they say
how would you know what you want?
well to that, i say yes i am
i am young and yes i have no clue as to what i am doing
but
i have a passion
i have a voice which i dont really use often
hiding behind a curtain,
too afraid of being judged, too afraid of the unknown thats keeping me hushed
there are a million and one thing running havoc in my head
wishing to break free and make themselves known
like how children are growing up with a fixed mindset
or how there are people getting killed just for being themselves
this world isnt right or fair
but what use is it to us when its a place that we fear?

we dont get a lot of time on this planet
and on a religious note, its all a test, temporary and not worth all your headache
but i ask you this one question: what are you achieving with this opportunity you got given?
we complain and complain how life isnt fair
but what are we actually willing to do instead of sitting in despair?

too young is slowly starting to be more of an obstacle than i thought it would be
i have all these dreams and ambitions: of how I'm going to change the world, change how people think, change the world to be the place i want to be in
but at the end of the day its not others who are holding me behind

its myself

I am my own villain in the path of making myself and my space a better one
my self-doubt is the bad guy in the movies that always get caught
however in this movie of my life, the bad guy is winning and I'm letting it

Life is a constant race of who can do better
It's always who has the best this or that: the best grades, the best clothes, the best hair
In this battle of being the best, losing oneself isn't that hard
You're always trying to be better no matter what

Here is a poem I wrote a couple weeks back. Recently I've started watching this YouTuber called clickfortaz and honestly she makes me feel so inspired it's unbelievable. She has this thing on her channel where she does spoken poetry and has done two TEDex talks in the last couple of years. Anyways what I wanted to say is, I really love how this poem came out. I got amazing feedback from my friends, my sister and even my English teacher. I hope you guys like it too. I'm starting to really like doing poetry so you guys might see more of it on here.
