I sat on my bed with Roxie. She was chewing on a bone while I lay on my bed, looking at the ceiling. I had my music on from my iPod, I was listening to my competition music from the past years, and what was supposed to be this year. I heard a knock on the door.

“Come in.” I said.

The door creaked open and in walked Katy.

“Hey, whatcha up to?” she asked.

“Just hanging out.” I replied.

Katy came over to my bed and took a seat. Roxie greeted her by licking her hand. Katy listened to the music.

“This is your dance music, isn’t it?” she asked.

“Yeah, I’m just feeling a bit nostalgic today.” I replied. I sat up and looked at Katy. “Tell me the truth. I’m never going to be able to dance again, am I?”

“Oh Rachel,” Katy pulled me into her, “we’ve talked about this. This cancer has been unpredictable. If you dance, we’re taking a big risk with everything.”

“I know, I just miss it so much. Dancing is my life, my passion. It made me so happy.” I replied.

“I know, sweetie.” Katy said, “I know.”

It was quiet for a little while until Katy spoke up.

“Hey, well, I have something to go to tonight. So, why don’t you call up one of your friends and ask them to sleepover?” she suggested.

I snickered for a second, “And by ‘friends’ you mean Eva or Victoria?”

“Okay well maybe friend wasn’t a good term. How about, why don’t you call up Victoria or Eva and ask them to sleepover?” she said.

“I guess I might as well ask Eva. She’s been dying to meet Roxie.” I replied.

“Sounds like a good plan. Ask her to even pick up some sleepover food before she comes over.” Katy gave my leg a little squeeze, “I’ve gotta go make a phone call really quickly.”

“Okay.” I said.

Katy smiled and walked out the door. I rolled over and picked up my phone from my nightstand, found Eva’s contact, and hit call.

Right away she answered me, “Well if it isn’t Miss Rachel Hudson. What’s up honey bunches of oats?”

I laughed, “Oh my God, you’re so weird. Anyways, I have a question for you.”

“Yes, I am weird, but I am also unusual. Anyways, I have an answer.” she said on the other end of the line.

I smiled, “So, Katy is going to be going somewhere tonight and I’d rather not be alone so, uh-”

“Say no more!” she cut me off, “Have no fear, Eva’s here! Well, I’m not there right now, but I will be! Shall I get some food for the slumber of our parties?” Eva asked

“Yeah, that would be great.” I replied.

“Alright I’m gonna take a big chance, dun dun dunnnn. I’m going to….Wal-Mart.” she whispered through the phone.

I couldn’t stop laughing, “Eva, no! It’s too dangerous!” I played along.

“I must do it! I shall be fine, as long as I do what I need and get out. The weird people really start to lurk out of the darkness at 7pm.”

“Just bring the food and come back. I’m crying from laughing so hard!”

“Then I have done my job. I’ll also do more of it tonight! See you in a half hour girly.” she said.
