(Two Months Later)

Beep, beep, beep! The sound of my alarm woke me up from my deep slumber. That was the first night in almost ten years that I didn’t have a nightmare. It was great that my nightmares were starting to go away. Then again, everything bad started to go away. I regained my strength, and I was able to walk, run, and most importantly, dance. My hair had grown back to its long, old self. I no longer had headaches constantly, and I didn’t have to take any more antibiotics. It was as if the sun was shining just for me.

I rolled off of my bed and stood up, stretching out my arms and yawning. I saw the dress that I was going to wear today. Katy helped me pick it out the day before, and it was beautiful. The dress was a tye dye sort of pattern with lavender, white, and baby blue all over. I took it off of my desk chair and changed myself into it. I put my lavender colored flats on my feet, to match the dress, and went towards my bathroom. I didn’t know what exactly to do with my hair, since I haven’t had hair in so long. Eventually, I decided on a half-up, half-down ponytail, putting curls on the half-down part, and finishing it off with a bow where the ponytail holder was. Afterwards, I went back into my room and looked in the mirror to make sure everything was in ship-shape. For the first time in a very long time, when I looked in the mirror, I liked what I saw. I smiled to myself.

“Rachel! C’mon, we’re going to be late!” Katy shouted from downstairs.

I quickly grabbed my bag and took my phone off of the charger and slipped it in with everything else I had in there. I opened my door and walked down the stairs to find Katy waiting for me. She caught a glance at me, then turned her head back around to fully look at me. Smiling, she said, “You look so beautiful, Rach.”

“I thought so, too.” I said while smiling at Katy.

Katy held out her hand, “Shall we?”

I took hold of her soft hand, “Let’s shall.”

Laughing, we walked out to the car and buckled our seatbelts. Next thing I know we are on the highway, heading to the Warner Brothers studio.

Today was the day. I am going to be on The Ellen Show. Nope, not Katy, me. Ellen asked Katy at the recital concert if I could come onto her show when I was feeling better and talk about my story. Katy agreed on one condition, and that was that I get to perform my solo on the show. So not only to I get to have an interview on a big television show that a lot of people watch, but I get to dance, too. Can you say best day ever?

We arrived at the front of the studio, it was about two hour before the show, so I assumed no one would be there. Boy, was I wrong. As soon as I got out I was surrounded by screaming fans and bright flashes from paparazzi’s cameras. I felt Katy grab hold of my arm and I linked mine through hers. I said hi to some people as we walked to the front entrance. We were immediately greeted by Ellen’s assistant on the show, Jeannie. She gave as both hugs and said how happy she was for us to be here.

“Right this way, and I’ll show you to your dressing room.” Jeannie said.

We followed her down a long corridor. There were big photos on the wall of past celebrities who have been on the show. We passed a photo of Katy at Christmas time talking with Ellen.

I nudged Katy and pointed to the picture, “I wonder who that is.” I joked.

“Haha, yes very funny.” she joked along.

Jeannie made a right and turned into a room. We walked in and it had flowers and a couch and even a bathroom.

“Whoa.” I said.
