Diane tracked deeper into the forest, following the messy trail Lian left behind. The others must of already be back at the helicopter by now, waiting for Diane to bring back her cousin. As she descended deeper into the forest, Diane heard a weeping noise coming from behind a tree in front of her. With a deep sigh, she stepped around the tree to find Lian on the ground. Her mask had come off her face, as the tears flowed freely.

"What do you want?" the girl asked.

"To talk to you," Silver Shadow said bluntly. She then winced at her answer. Daine was supposed to be nice towards Lian to get her to agree to the plan. She then settled on the dirt next to her.

"I came to see how you were doing,"

"Did my supposed mom send you?" Her voice was hard, unforgiving. It was hard to imagine that the drying girl in front of Diane was her older cousin. The grass that was underneath them, was currently be crumpled up in Lian's hands.

"No," Diane lied "I sent myself,"

"Why?" Lian asked, barely even bothering with the conversation.

"Because like you I have been lied to by the Justice League"

"How? Why?" She said suddenly more interested in what Diane was saying.

"My father," Diane said "Died within the ranks of the league, it took me years to get them to tell me why he died. it was because none of them could save him. So I figured if they can't even save their own, then why should they be saving us."

"I guess you're right," Lian said after a minute. "Why should they be saving us? All they do is sit in the pretty Watchtower of theirs and talk. I haven't seen them go out in an age. They just send their young covert ops team to do it for them,"

Jade was right, Lain had inherited her father's stubbornness when it came to the league. That program was wiped from Red Arrow but must still be in Lain's head.

"So, what do you say," Diane said, standing up and brushing the dirt from her pants. "Help a friend out." Diane held out her hand. Lian took it.

Artemis POV

Artemis watched Roy as he paced around the meeting table.

"We shouldn't have left her there," he said. "Why did you send Diane after her?"

"I already told you this, Diane is a speedster, Silver Shadow is a speedster, it is will be easier for her to fight them."

"Then why not send Wally? If he needs to hold back the Jades team, he has more experience."

"Diane has known Lian for all of her life, and Wally hasn't fought in 15 years. No offence, of course" She said the last bit towards the red-haired speedster across from her.

"That alright, but I have also not eaten in 15 years, it's just not something you can do in the speed force. So I am going to go and get something to eat." He said and then left the room.

Roy watched him leave, then turned and faced Artimas. "Why haven't you told him yet?"

Artemis looked at him in disbelief. "Just because my sister did a big revelation in your family today, does not mean you can do that to mine."

"Look at how broken Lian was, do you want that to happen to Wally?"

"He'll live," she said sounding bitter.

"If I may point out," Nightwing said, he had been so quiet that Artemis forgot he was even here. "It will be best if Wally was not told about this, being told at the wrong moment will mess with his head when he goes out into the field, and we don't know how he will react. The logical choice will be to keep him in the dark for a little bit longer. A father can live without the knowledge of a daughter, but a daughter cannot live without the knowledge of a father. We all wear masks, we just have to remember not to become them. Not to be separated from others."

I'm sorry about the really short chapter. Like I said before on my message board, I have lost all of the notes on my others stories. so don't expect an update for a while.
