Part 10

Diane POV

She stood amongst the trees on Santa Prisca. Watching as Red Arrow, Red Eagle and Kid Flash stepped off the plane. Since Miss M was off-world and had taken her Bio-ship with her, the league had to resort to louder, more visible mode of transport. Diane looked down at her Silver Shadow suit. It was all black. Black pants, black shirt, black boots, black mask. The only slight look of colour was the silver bracelet she was wearing on her wrist. It was a glamour charm. Artemis and Dick had one too. Artemis was glamoured not to look too different from her days in Black Mantas sub. But a less sharp face, and a not too deep voice. Diane looked like a younger version of her mother. Of course, it was Richard who took the most difference. Having light brown hair, and the appearance of an Asian boy, Diane had to think twice about who was under that mask.

The three heroes have walked deeper into the forest. Time for phase one of the plan to begin.

"Well look who it is, three of the league puppy dogs. Are you lost?" Black Eagle had jumped down from her post in the tree above the pathway across the clearing. On that side of the clearing was Cheshire, Sportsmaster and Jr. on this side was Diane, The Duchess and Death Master.

"Ashley-" Red Arrow started, his bow drawn, but was cut off by his daughter.

"Ah, No. It's not Ashley, It's Ash. Or Black Eagle. Whatever way you prefer."

"Who are you?" Red Eagle asked. Her bow was also drawn. Poor girl, Diane thought she is in for one surprise.

"You didn't tell her about me?" Said Ash mocking being offended.

Cheshire jumped out of her tree and landing next to Ash. Clarity finally showing on Roy Harper's face.

"Cheshire, You-" He started but was cut off again.

"Roy, we're married. I think you can call me by my name now."

He ground his teeth.

"Married! Ok, now I am really confused." Cut in Lian.

"Welcome to my world" cut in Wally. Lian gave him a look to tell him he wasn't helping.

"Well lets just cut to the chase then," said a voice it was a voice that Diane didn't hear often because of the glamour charm. Diane looked at the tree next to her, expecting to see her mother there. She wasn't. On the ground in front of them, Artemis had landed down and currently had both of daggers out, blinding in the sunlight. That was there Que. In sync, the rest of their group lands around the heroes.

"You're surrounded," The Duchess said.

"Okayyyyyyyyyyy," said Kid Flash "Since I'm new to this time, who are you?"

Diane could tell that her mother was trying hard not to laugh. Or roll her eyes.

"I'm the Duchess," she said her eyes gleaming with mischief, "That Death Master and Silver Shadow"

"Silver Shadow? What sort of name is that?" he asked.

Diane super speeded towards him, so all that was in her place was a patch of black from her suit and the silver bracelet.

"That is your answer," she said from behind him almost making him jump.

"Okay, thank you for that demonstration, but enough talk." Red Arrow said as he shoots an arrow at Cheshire. But Diane blocked it with an arrow of her own.

"Not so fast," said Cheshire, "I think Lian here would like to know a little more about her heritage,"

"How do you know my name?" said Red Eagle, looking more worried by the minute.

"I was the one who named you"

"You can't be," Lian said. "H-how, w-why" she stuttered.

"Well, your father certainly couldn't. He didn't even know you were alive. He was too busy feeling sorry for himself."

"My father?" asked Red Eagle confused.

Cheshire's eyes snapped to Roy, she gave him a look of death.

"How much?" she said in a soft whisper. "How much does she know?"

Roy ground his teeth, "Her parents died in a car crash just after she was born, she doesn't remember a thing."

Cheshire stood there. So still, it hard to tell if she was even breathing. Then she had a soft smile on her face. And suddenly she was laughing.

"Did he really tell you that?" Jade asked her daughter. "Ohhhh Roy, your lying is just getting worse. I didn't think that was possible"

"Cheshire," Duchess said. "You're confusing the girl, just tell her the truth. No. Okay, I'll do it. Lian, Cheshire is your mother, Black Eagle or Ash is your younger sister, Artemis is your Aunt, Diane is your cousin and Roy is your father. No, not your adopted father like you thought before. Your actual biological father."

All eyes were on Lian, to see how she will take it. The girl was pale as a ghost and had started to back away from the group.

"Now Lian," said Jade, "you have a choice, you can either stay with the Justice League and your father who lied to you for the last fourteen years, or you can come with us" Cheshire was smiling like her namesake.

Instead of answering, Lian took off deeper into the forest. Then the chopper that was evacuating all of the supplies from the island took off.

"You were just a distraction," Kid Flash said. "So they could get off the island"

They continued to talk, but Diane didn't hear what they said. She had a different job. She had to find Lian.
