A Deadly Attraction

Part 15

(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

"(Y/N) are you in here?" I heard lightly echo through the cave.

"N-n-no, go a-away. Leave m-me alone." I yelled. I couldn't take any more of this clan. Whoever it was, they took a step closer so I turned towards them.

"N-no!" I stuck out my hand, hopefully warning them off. I opened my eyes and there in front of me was Neji. Am I dreaming?

"(Y/N)... Do you know wh-"

"Y-You can't be here! Y-You have to go now b-before I-I..." I couldn't breathe. He finally came but I was at the end of my chain. I practically collapsed and just layed there

"(Y/N) It's ok. It's me, Neji, and I'm here to bring you ba-"

"You can't. They d-did something. Sprayed me with- I – N-Neji it's n-not good. I could poison everyone a-and go mad. Y-you have to leave!" I tried to get it out, tell him why but I just felt myself getting worse.

"Well, I'm not gonna let that happen." He said so calmly and monotone.

"H-how? It's n-not a simple h-head cold, I-"

"Whatever they sprayed you down with is turning you into, well, nothing short of a monster. It's turning you more poisonous, so poisonous that it's showing through your skin. If I'm right, It's similar to the thing you got shot with earlier when we first went out, so here." I looked over. He was two steps closer but in his outreached hand was a Jack-in-the-pulpit flower.

"I-I can't m-move Neji, If I d-do I'd-"

"Just hold still," Neji said calmly taking another step forward.

"N-Neji you-"

"I said just hold still..." He said, his static voice oddly soothing. He took another step closer and was now an arm's reach away.
"I don't know if you remember but I am the stoniest Hyuga around, So I can handle one Poscuro." A small smirk crossed his lips. I just laid there, unable to move, so weak from the poison. Neji gently reached over and propped me up on his leg.

"Here..." I could see it from here, I was too poisonous for him but he was ignoring it, handing me the flower. With a shaky hand, I ate the flower and gagged at the taste.

"Ya know, T-this is meant t-to be a tea, n-not an e-edible snack..." He softly chuckled. I don't know if it was the flower working of the poison from earlier kicking in but suddenly everything went black and I couldn't feel anything.

Kiba's P.O.V.

Something reeked. Like the citronella candles and death. The sent was so pungent that it made me nauseous.

"Where the hell is that coming from?!" Answering my question, Akimaru barked toward a corridor. We had secured and gotten almost every member of the Hofuku clan but still had yet to find (Y/N). Akamaru kept barking so I followed him down the corridor, at the end was Neji and (Y/N). I know that sent was familiar, It was the smell of the Poscuros, just not as pungent. I realized neither of them was moving so I ran over.

"Neji!" I shook his shoulder but he slowly stuck out his hand.

"You can't touch her... She's really poisonous..." I shook off his hand and grabbed him by the back of the collar and dragged him out from under (Y/N)>

"I know they say Hyugas can stand their poison but man, you're in really bad shape." I layed him flat out on his back to check for any major issues or injuries. It looked like it was just from being near (Y/N) for so long. Just then some more reinforcements came in, luckily some of them were Hyugas.

"Help (Y/N)... She's poisonous but... but needs to get back to her clan to help..." Neji said through labored breaths.

"Yeah Neji, we get it. Now just hold on while we get you out of here and find some medical ninjas." Some people helped me lift Neji onto one of those board things while a couple were strategically planning how to help get (Y/N) out and get medical attention without having to come on contact with her. Eventually (Y/N) and everyone else was out of the Hofuku clan's camp. Everyone was now situated, the Hofuku's were being taken into town, while other ninjas had packed up and headed back to the Hokage's office to be debriefed on the mission. Almost as if the universe was thanking us, the sun rose up, giving a brilliant orange hazy glow leading us all back home.
