Chapter 10

ADAM'S POV

As I slowly knock on Zoe's door, I hear her voice mumble something inaudible. I knock again

"Zoe?" I say slowly. I hear light footsteps. And then I hear her slump down on the other side of the door. I sigh, sitting down, my back on the door. If she won't talk, it won't hurt her to listen. "Zoe, I am sorry for going off at you the other day. I was just worried. I know, sorry porbably won't cut it. But please, you're getting me worried and I just want to be there for you like a parent." I sigh, tears stream down my face, I slowly stand up and walk off. I hear her door open, I turn to see her standing there in a big baggy jumper. She looks as if she hasn't slept a wink. Her eyes had heavy bags underneath them, she had dried up tears, now mixing in with new tears.

"I am sorry, for shutting you out, Adam." She cried. I walked over to her and held her close. This time she didn't hesitate. "I am used of shutting people out, I need to realise that things have changed and I can't shut you out anymore. I am so so sorry if you don't want me anymore." She sobbed.

"Why in the world wouldn't I want you?" I said, looking down at her. She felt limp and she was getting skinnier.

"Because of the way I have treated you. You're the only person I trust now." She sniffled.

"I would NEVER give up on you. People tend to mourn in different ways but please, never shut me out like that again. Understand?" I said sternly. She nodded.

"Can you stay with me, until I fall asleep?" She said silently. I smiled at her and nodded. I was so tired as I haven't slept the whole time she was in there. I walked into her room, she layed down on the bed and I layed next to her, I put one arm under her neck as a pillow and one around her waist.

"Can you sing to me?" She said sleeply, her eyes sealed shut.

"Any paticular song?" I said, I thought she had fallen alseep before she nodded.

"Can't let you go?" She asked, I nodded and started to sing.

"Oh.... yeah

Guess it was not meant to be

But it's not as bad as it seems

It only burns when I breathe, yeah

You saw the way that I fell

But I'm better off by myself
