"Just because my path is different, doesnt mean im lost"-unknown

The evening darkness rushed through the kitchen windows, a soft wind blowing the blinds side to side.

Zack had gone home for the weekend and Noah went off to do some training at the hut.

I sent Caleb to the shop to buy some juice a while ago but he wasnt back yet. Urging myself not to worry too much i began chopping onions in an effort to make a curry.

From outside the wind could be heard whistling sharply across the sky.

I sighed seating myself onto the kitchen counter and taking my phone out for now the third time while the second hand on the clock ticked annoyingly.

Silence grew and i could feel the room getting darker and colder. It was something i was used to by now.

The boys would normally be out and about because of their greater experience and myself at home reminiscing on the past.

It was a life that never came easy but it was something we had to stand up and deal with or else we wouldn't be where we were now.

The smell of the onions filled the room making my eyes sting slightly.

A door from the living room clicked open and a few seconds later  Caleb entered, his face holding an non recognisable expression.

His eyes scanned the room, his nostrils flaring at the smell.

He held a white Tesco carrier bag that stuck out from random corners which i suspected was the corners of the juice and maybe some cereal.

After Noah had left, Caleb decided to make more of an effort on his appearance and disappeared upstairs coming back around fifteen minutes later with his hair ruffled messily because of the blow dryer and a pair of black jeans pulled up with a Louis Vuitton belt.

His black office shirt was tucked in and he wore the gold Rolex i got for his 20th birthday.

Placing the bag in the centre of the kitchen island making the whole room seem unsettled he turned opening the fridge and staring into it.

"Remind me to kick Noah and Zack out." He slammed the door close and walked over to a cupboard on the far end.

Taking out a bowl then pouring in cereal and later adding milk, he leaned against the large kitchen island and took a spoonful of his crunchy nut cornflakes savouring the taste.

The curry, which i left on the gas, began fizzing violently and before i could move Caleb began stirring with the wooden spoon his actions completely automatic as if he'd planned for this to happen.

Caleb had always been the type to do things without thinking. He had been blessed with being able to have quick thinking skills and fast reflexes.

He carried on crunching  on the cereal not taking his eyes off me. I felt him wanting to push a question past but knew he wouldnt be able to spill so easily.

The glare he gave made me uneasy in my seat at the kitchen island, forcing myself not to dig a hole in the ground and burry myself right under i stared back giving an equally intense look.
