CHAPTER TWENTY
I hugged Frankie goodbye.
“Shawna, are you sure I can have this dress, it’s really pretty and it still had the tags on?”
I smiled. “I don’t really like dresses like this Ashley just got them for me from her, I mean our, stylist.”
“Thanks for everything Shawna, you’re really great.”
“It’s okay.” I replied I waved to her and watched as she got into the taxi which pulled up outside.
“I’ll call you soon.” She shouted.
“I’ll be picking up the call, don’t you worry.” I shouted back, I watched as the car drove into the distance.
I made my way back into the house and into my room. I sat on the stool behind my dressing table and stared into the mirror. My skin for the first time in years was showing a promising sign of a good tan, which I never got when I went on holiday, even when I went to Egypt last year I still came back ghostly white. My hair had been highlighted naturally from where I had been sitting in the sun for too long and fell into a more naturally straight, (result compared to my winter frizz.) The summer always made me look more alive tan or no tan it must be all this sun cream I’m inhaling.
I was in my own world brushing through my locks when Ashley twirled in -I was obviously forgiven from yesterday then.
“Hello my little elf.” She chirped.
I rolled my eyes and she laughed. “I still haven’t picked out a wedding dress yet and you being my maid of honour need to help me pick one out, so hurry up and get ready because we’re going wedding dress hunting. She ruffled my hair and walked out like a fairy once again.
Oh the joy.

I sat in the car and watched Ashley totter over in some ridiculous wedges wearing a floral maxi dress, her eyes were covered by overly large sunglasses and she had a floppy straw hat on her head. She opened the car door.
“Do we really have to go in your car?” She whined.
“Yes.” I replied bluntly “It’s either this or no wedding dress.”
She huffed but never the less climbed in the passenger seat. When I started the engine she handed me a double sided A4 piece of paper.
“I have been to all those shops and I couldn’t find anything I wanted.”
I took the list from her and raised my eyebrows, there had got to be over fifty shops crammed in Ashley’s perfectly swirled handwriting just on the one side. She hadn’t just looked in England either she’d gone to France, Germany, America, Spain, China, Australia and many other exotic places.
“And after all those trips you still haven’t found a dress?” I asked raising my eyebrows.
“No.” She stated quiet simply unaware of my shock. “I just don’t know where else to go.”
I sighed and handed Ashley the piece of paper back. “Okay, let me just get myself a cup of tea and we can think this through.”
I pulled up outsides Chas’ jogged in and started to make myself a tea to go.
Chas smiled. “I don’t see you make tea that fast on a work day what’s the rush?”
“I have to help Ashley find her wedding dress and it’s going to be stressful she’s been to near enough every wedding dress boutique I can think of.” I replied placing the lid on my cup.
