"Josiah?"
I entered the room to find my son laying on the hospital bed. I remembered getting the call, how the doctor told me about the car crash, how his girlfriend was suffering memory loss from a head injury. I was terrified he would suffer the same fate. Approaching him, I stood quietly until he noticed my presence. He drifted in and out of consciousness. Taking a deep breath, I asked him, "Do you remember anything?"
Josiah hesitated, and I felt like breaking down right there. This is impossible. Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Yeah. I remember."
