I want to hold you high and steal your pain away.

"Mrs. Teller, there's a phone call for you in the office." I look up towards the door where I see one of the secretaries standing. I give her a small grin and nod.

"Okay guys, we'll start the movie and while I'm gone, no monkey business." I tell my class of grade twelves, giving them a stern look as I start the DVD and watch as the movie begins to play. "Remember, Frankenstein is on the test, and no, not only the movie, you will have to read the book too."

"But Mrs. T!" I hear one of my students' groan. I raise an eyebrow and chuckle before walking off to the back of the room and flicking off the lights.

"Hey Gael, I'll be there in a moment, okay? I'm just going to see if Trish is free to watch the class while I answer. She's just next door." I tell her quickly before popping a piece of gum inside my mouth and taking a sip from my water bottle. I watch as Gael leaves the room, leaving the door open for me. I follow her footsteps and stop at Trish's classroom where I see her writing at her desk. I gently knock on the door and smile at the middle-aged woman, "Hey Trish, are you able to watch the class for a bit? Someone called for me and it seems pretty urgent."

Trish chuckles, standing up and nodding. "No problem, Al." I watch as she piles up the tests she's marking and holds them against her chest. "Is it a boy calling you?" She teases me, looking me up and down.

I laugh, shaking my head. "No, you know I'm not ready for that." I admit to my friend and she puts her one hand up in defeat.

"Hey now, dressed in a black dress that tight and those heels." She says, pointing down to my black Louboutin's. "Those are special pumps." We walk out of her classroom and she locks the door behind her. "I'll make sure they behave. Movie?"

I nod, "Yeah, Frankenstein. Should be easy to supervise." I chuckle as we begin to part ways. "Thanks again, Trish!" I call out to her as I walk down the hallway to get to the office. I get to the office and walk in, rushing over to Gael who signals to the phone and gives me a number two with her fingers, telling me it's line two. I pick up the phone cautiously, not knowing who would be calling me at work. "Hello?"

"Mrs. Teller?" I hear a man ask me and I nod.

"Yes, this is she. May I ask who's calling? I'm just at work right now."

I clear my throat, my mind wandering at the endless possibilities of this phone-call. "It's Mr. Wood, the Vice President at Charming Elementary. Abel got into a bit of an accident on the playground and has been sent to the hospital with his father. We just wanted to call to inform you of his leave and condition."

My eyebrow raises as my heart pounds in my chest, "Condition?"

"Yes ma'am, Abel had a large cut on his forehead, something that definitely needs dishes. Mr. Teller picked him up and immediately took him to the hospital. This was about 10 minutes ago, hopefully that's okay." I nod, trying not to get angry that they contacted Jax before me.

"That's fine. Thank you for your call." And with that, I hang up, nervous and scared for my son. I look at Gael and give her an apologetic look, "Can you call a sub in? Abel is in the hospital, he fell at school."

Gael nods, giving me a sad stare. "Of course. I hope he's okay, and if there's anything you need, please let us know, Alexis." The elderly woman tells me with a loving smile.

I nod, patting the desk, "Thanks, Gael." And with that, I rush back to my classroom to gather my bags and jacket. I stop in the washroom before leaving, looking myself over to ensure that I'm presentable. My black hair in curls down to my belly button, and my tight black dress hugging the curves of my body and cutting off just below my knees. I let out a sigh and grab my blazer, hurrying out of the school and to my SUV.
