And I will try to fix you.
---
I run the brush through my wet hair, staring at my reflection in the mirror. We held the funeral for my mom yesterday, and I've felt a weight being lifted from my shoulders. I let out a deep breath and notice that the bags under my eyes are starting to disappear. I walk out of the bathroom with my towel wrapped around my body. I walk to Jax's bedroom and get dressed in a floral maxi dress. I toss my curls up in a messy bun and walk out of the bedroom to find Jax sitting on the couch.
"You look awfully dressed up." He says as he looks over to me and stands up, walking to the kitchen to pour himself a cup of coffee. I watch as he makes me a tea and I walk to the fridge, grabbing the milk and noticing how empty his fridge is. "Who are you seeing all dressed like that?"
I look over to him and chuckle, "Our kids." I tell him as I pour the milk and sugar into my tea, stirring them together before taking a sip. "You should probably get some groceries. There's nothing in your fridge, and if you plan on having us st-"
"Us?" Jax gives me a large smile, "So that means you've decided to stay here with the kids, yeah?"
I grin back, "I guess that's what it means." I take another drink of my tea, leaning on the counter. "What are you doing today?"
Jax shrugs, "Club shit then nothing, why?"
I set my mug on the counter and walk over to him, wrapping my arms around his torso. He looks at me with shock and then returns the favor. "I was going to get the kids, go get groceries and maybe we can have a family dinner and movie night. I think the kids would enjoy that. It's been a long time."
Jax hums, "I guess I'm a sucker for a pretty face." I look up at him and he smiles before kissing my forehead. "I hate to ask, but what's this mean about us? Are we getting back together?"
I clear my throat, unsure how to respond. "I don't know... maybe we're rushing things."
Jax laughs, "I hate to break it to ya', darling, but we're already married."
I roll my eyes and playfully hit him in the chest, "You know what I mean. We need to take it slow, and I need to see if you're serious about giving this a shot and being faithful. I won't keep doing this, Jax. I love you, but I can't keep putting myself through this heartache."
He nods, "I know, I know. I'm ready to show you, I swear." I watch as he fumbles with his pocket, "But, can you please put these back on? I know the kids at the school hit on you and think you're hot. I need them to think you've got a scary husband at home."
I chuckle, "I guess I can do that." He takes the rings and slides them on my fingers before raising my hand to his mouth and gently kissing the top of it. "I'm going to go get the kids now. I'll order pizza or something and see you later. When do you think you'll be home?"
Jax chugs the rest of his coffee and sets his mug in the sink. "Probably six-ish?" I nod, grabbing my purse, keys and phone. "Is that okay?"
"Yeah, that's fine. Just want to know when I should have food ready by." I go to reach for the door, but Jax grabs my hand and pulls me into him, moving his hand from my waist to the sides of my neck.
He smiles down at me and gently presses his lips up against mine, kissing me passionately before letting me leave. I pull away and smile back at him, surprised by his actions. "That's better." I raise my eyebrow in question and he chuckles, "It's been a while since we had a good kiss. I missed it."
