I would give everything up, every breath, every first taste for you, just to make it alright.

It's been a few weeks since Jax and I had our big discussion. Things have been going much better, and I'll admit that I find myself worrying about him; worrying if he's happy, or if he's going to be safe and not put himself in danger. I do my best to give him the benefit of the doubt, but it's hard to not think about these things when he lives the life he does.

I hold Melody in my arms, rocking her back and forth as she cries. "It's okay, baby, it's okay." I kiss the top of her head and rub her back, doing my best to soothe her.

"Momma, she probably wants you to sing." I hear Abel tell me as he helps tidy up her room. I give him a small grin.

"Do you think she wants that?" He looks up to me, nodding. I watch as he hands me her fluffy pink blanket and I put it on her back as I continue rocking her. "Can you go check on Thomas for me, buddy?" Abel nods before leaving me alone with his sister. I let out a sigh as she continues to cry, refusing to sleep.

"Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me." I hear her settling down and I let out a breath of relief. "I once was lost, but now I'm found. Was blind, but now I see." I kiss the side of her head as I continue rocking her, "How precious did that grace appear, the hour I first believed. Through many dangers, toils and shares, we have already come t'was grace that brought us safe thus far, and grace will lead us home." I feel her completely calm down and I tilt my head back in satisfaction.

I hear someone clear their throat behind me and I turn around to see Jax leaning on the door frame, watching me rock Melody to sleep. "Here, babe." He says as he reaches out for our daughter, taking her in his arms as he rocks her, pressing a kiss to her head. She molds right into his body and I watch as a small smile creeps up on her face. She's always been a Daddy's girl. "How're my favourite girls doing?" he asks, and I shrug.

"Exhausted. I'm going to go to the school to do some more marking. Your mom said she'd come over to watch the kids."

Jax chuckles, shaking his head. "You're supposed to be relaxing, it's your break before exams."

I shrug, "No rest for the wicked I guess. How's your day been so far?"

Jax walks over to Melody's crib, laying her down gently and watching her as she sleeps. I've noticed Jax has been spending a lot of time with Melody, and anytime he's had a rough day, he comes into her room and hangs out with her, even if she's sleeping, he'll take her out of her crib and hold onto her. "It's been okay." I watch as he tenses up and I raise an eyebrow, knowing he's hiding something. "We had a problem with Marks."

I sigh, doing my best to not tell him 'just leave'. "Hopefully it turns around, eh?" is what I decide to say.

He nods, walking over to me, "That would be ideal. When are you going to the school?"
