I usually just go on with my life normally, working a decent job, mostly because all the bad jobs that are easier to get are easier because they are dangerous, and therefore require wings.
I looked at the time. Crap! I need to start getting ready now or I'll be late for work. I put on my uniform, which is a blue polo with the store's logo on the right breast, khaki pants, black tennis shoes, and a visor with the logo on it as well. I biked to work. I work at the local Walmart, where I restock the shelves. I work from 9 am to 4 pm everyday with a 30 minute break 12:00-12:30. After barely making it to work on time, I worked until lunch break, and after I ate my lunch, went back to work until 4.
Once my long day was over, I trudged home and took a nap. I woke up to the phone ringing. I picked up the line, wondering who would ever call me.
"Hello, this is Quinn. Who is this?" I asked, still wondering who would ever call me. "Hey Quinn, do you remember me? It's Laken from middle school. I was wondering if you wanted to meet together tonight at the club. You interested?"
"Laken! Of course! It'll be great to catch up!" Laken has been my only true friend I've ever had, but he left my school to go to a fancy private school that has advanced lessons in flying when we were in 8th grade.
"Great! I'll see you there!" I replied as I hung up the phone. As I looked at my closet, I realized I didn't have any gender neutral nice clothes. I sighed and grabbed my nice-ish suit I wore at graduation under my graduation robe. Its black with gold buttons, black shoes and pants. The basics. I just realized I forgot to clarify something most people find important.
I identify as gender neutral, but how I dress depends on my mood. Today I decided to dress more masculine.
Once I had my suit on, I got on my bike and rode over to the club to meet Laken. When I finally arrived, I locked my bike up and went over to where Laken was standing.
"Quinn! Hey!" "Laken! Whats up!" Laken's wings are a deep blue with a couple sea green feathers here and there. He is an incredible flier... it makes me wish I could fly too... After we both caught up, we went into the club to hang out. We talked some more, and got a few drinks. Laken went to the bathroom while I went outside to wait for him. As I was walking out the door, out of the corner of my eye, I caught someone else's eye.
"Wait a second, di-did she not have wings?" I asked Laken later on, while thinking about the incident. Then I remembered that he wasn't there.
"Impossible! You're the only person without wings!" Laken replied thoughtfully, "So surely not... right?"
"You're probably right..."
