I Regret It

said

As Doctor Jung and Jieun sets up the paperwork for the heart replacement, Jungkook came to us, his bunny teeth showing.

"Where have you guys been? I was looking for the two of you!"

"Sorry Kooks, but she seems bored, so we walked around the hospital's park."

"Oh."

Silence. Then I suddenly remembered something. Something I just found out earlier.

"Hey, Jungkook..."

"Yes noona?"

"Tell me the truth... Are you..."

Silence.

"...nochu? The mysterious guy that chats with me?"

I saw him tensed up.

"...yes."

"Why kooks? You do know that you can always talk to me."

"No I can't."

"Why? Are you embarrassed to have an ex like me? Are you ashamed of your past action?! Are you--"

I didn't know what came over me. I just started screaming mean things to him, not realizing that we're still in the hospital. Not noticing the way Jungkook's expression changed from smiling to... disappointment? Taehyung held my wrist, stopping me. I then realized that I just messed up. Big time. Jungkook still looks down, his hair covering half of his face. Then he looked up, and I regret it. Big time.

He was crying. Real tears. His tears running down his cheek, his eyes grew red, his breathing got heavier. Then he looked at me. Straight at me.

"Noona... whenever I'm near, you never saw me. I- regret what I did. Believe me, I always looked your way, hoping that you'll see me. But you didn't see me, of course. No, I'm not embarrassed to have an ex like you noona. You've taught me how to behave like a better person, you taught me things that I never understand."

He took a deep breath before continuing.

"I... I'm ashamed of what I did to you. I know, I was stupid to agree to the game they set me. But , I ended falling for you. For real. Not a game. Noona...."

I stood there, my ears not believing what I just heard, my heart started to beat faster. As I looked back at Jungkook, he just smiled his usual smile before taking one step closer to me.

"I'll wait for your answer Noona... but I don't think we have that much time."

With that, he walked away. Leaving a confused me and a silent Tae. I slowly sat to the chair, while Taehyung, with his blank expression, staring out to the place where Jungkook just stood. I mean, that was very suprising. He practically confessed in the hospital. I don't know why, but... I think I need to think about this first.

I know,, he said that we don't have much time, although I don't really know the meaning of that sentence. But... I need to think about it. So I said goodbye to Tae and went to my bestie's house, Yeri. Maybe she'll understand.

KIM TAEHYUNG

As Taeri left, I quickly grabbed my phone and contacted Jungkook.

"Annyeong hyung.."

"Where are you Kooks? I need some explanation."

"I'm right behind you hyung."

When I looked back, I saw Jungkook, holding his phone in one hand and a paper in the other hand. He walked toward me and signalled me to sit down. After we both sat down, he gave me the paper. I looked at it and instantly knew that it was the paperwork for the heart replacement. There, Taeri's father name is written as the receiver, with age, blood type, and other information. Below it was the donator's name. I looked at Jungkook, wanting explanasion. He just smiled and started to tell me the whole thing. Honestly, I'm very shocked. This information... oh damn.

"Promise me one thing hyung..."

"What?"

"Never tell Taeri where I'll be going."

I just smiled. Really, Jungkook is such a great guy.

"Oh hyung, do me one more favor will you?"

"Anything Kooks."

Then he gave me a few music paper, with notes and lyrics, packed with one flashdisk.

"Give it to Taeri, a few days after.. you know.."

I looked at him and we both smiled at each other.

JEON JUNGKOOK

I waited in the same spot I told her to come. The clock shows that it was still 7 pm, so i waited patiently on one of the chairs. As I sat, I thought about all the possibilities that could happen. If she said yes, I'll fly to moon and back. If she says no, well, there's no turning back. I wait and wait. I saw Taehyung from the corner of my eyes, looking at me, his lips mouthing 'FIGHTING!' to me.

9 pm, Taeri didn't appear. I instantly felt hopeless. Taehyung stood next to me, giving me a comforting tap on my shoulder. Then Namjoon hyung came to me and hugged me tightly. Right when Jieun called me, and hugged me for the last time before I entered the room.

I pulled out my phone from my pocket, staring at my wallpaper for awhile. Taeri. Who knew a girl like her could make me fall so hard. A simple girl, yet so kind and so special. I smiled bitterly. This will be the last time. This will be the last of me.
