Blinded and Muted - TPOF

Richard saw Scarlett's scarred expression, and Matt turned to a wall. Frightened, he turned Matt around to see emotionless eyes that couldn't see any more.

Richard and Jamie came bursting through the doors of the cell.

"Hey! Stop it!" Jamie ordered.

A man was stood in front of Matt, who's back was to them. He seemed to disobey Jamie's order for a moment, then finally conceded as Jamie's power got stronger.

"What was he doing?" Richard murmured to Jamie. The boy shrugged, and turned to Matt and Scarlett.

"Come on. Let's go!" he said urgently, wanting to leave Hong Kong as soon as possible.

Scarlett seemed terrified, curled up in a little ball in the corner of the cell. She seemed traumatised, like she wanted to forget everything that had happened.

"Come on, Scar, Matt," Richard urged. "I think it's best we leave now. It'll hopefully make it easier to leave during all the chaos."

Matt continued to stand there, staring at the wall.

"Matt? Are you okay?"

Matt slowly turned around. He looked at Richard first, and his face grimaced as though he knew what was coming. His eyes showed nothing.

"M-Matt?" Richard stuttered, unable to believe the - the thing, the person before him.

Scarlett seemed to come to herself the next moment, and stood up bravely next to Matt.

"He can't talk," she said. Her voice wobbled slightly. "They - they carved out his vocal cords."

"They did what?" Jamie said furiously.

"Yeah. And made him blind, somehow. I don't know how, I looked away. I couldn't watch." Scarlett looked down in shame, while Matt tried to turn his head away from them without any real sense of direction.

"This isn't going to work now, is it," Jamie said in a low voice. "We won't be able to win now, will we. He's our leader, and he can't give us orders. How can we win when our leader can't see where he's going?" He spat at Matt, angrily pacing the floor.

Matt looked down, obviously ashamed that he couldn't do anything to stop it.

"It's not Matt's fault, you know," Scarlett said, trying to defend Matt from Jamie's protests. "I know he could have used his power, but they threatened me. He said that he'd rather get hurt than I do. He said he was used to it. Do you know what that means, Richard?"

"No. He didn't like talking about his home life. I do know that he wasn't abused, but - I feel bad that we're talking about him like he's not even there," Richard interrupted himself, bringing himself out of shock.

"I'm sorry, Matt," Jamie said, finally coming to his senses and seeing that it wasn't Matt's fault. "I guess... I guess I was being harsh on you. If Scott or Pedro were being threatened, I'd do the same."

Matt nodded. He put his hands into his hair, frustrated that he couldn't speak nor see.

"Wait," Scarlett said suddenly. "What if he can see and speak in the dreamworld?"

Matt's expression seemed to brighten. He nodded enthusiastically, beginning to mouth something then frowning. He got Scarlett to turn him to Richard, and started mouthing to him slowly.

"Oh, right!" Richard exclaimed.

"What? What did he say?" Jamie and Scarlett asked.

"He said that him and Pedro could only communicate in the dreamworld, since Pedro could only speak Spanish in Lima. I completely forgot about that."

"Right, and we always saw one another in the dreamworld. Even before we met!" Jamie added. He nodded to Richard, and the man got what he was implying. He walked over to Matt and picked him up, beginning to walk out of the cell.

Matt started hitting his back, unsure of what was going on. "Don't worry, Matt," he heard Scarlett say. "Richard's just carrying you. We can't do it since you're too heavy for us, and we haven't got the strength. Trust me, we're going to teach you how to walk with sound, rather than vision."

Matt nodded, and let Richard carry him to the door.

And after that, all hell broke loose.

Hey guys! Hope you liked this one shot, I had this idea and it was pretty cool, for me at least. I can do a part two if you wish, explaining Matt's goings now that he's blind and mute. It would be pretty cool, to be honest. And next is going to be a one shot - a REQUESTED one! I never get those! Ha! Anyways, it'll be a nice one, not like the mean ones that I've been making 😂😂.
