Chapter 12

•Kaitlyn's POV•
-A week later-
I woke up to my annoying alarm ringing in my ear. Ever since the incident my mom has been letting me do online schooling but I keep on forgetting to turn it off. I rolled out of bed to find a missed call from Joey. I decided to call him back.
"Hello?" I heard from the other line.
"Hey Joey why did you call me?" I questioned.
"Oh I um ... I wanted to know how you were doing since what happened" He answered.
"Oh I'm doing good Joey, thank you" I smiled even though he couldn't see me.
"Oh really it's no problem I just wanted to make sure you were okay"
"I actually wanted to ask you something" he said.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Why haven't you been in school?" He questioned.
"I was looking for you at your locker the past couple of days and you weren't there" I smiled knowing that he was looking for me.
"Oh right my mom let me start doing online schooling since what happened" I explained.
"Oh alright also um ... do you maybe want to ... I don't know ... hang out today, after I get out of school?" He asked.
Heat rose to my cheeks as he finished his sentence. I don't know why but it just happened.
"Haha yes Joey I would love to hang out after school" I answered.
I could feel him smiling through the phone.
"Great meet me at my house at 3?"
"Of course" I smiled and hung up.
He's been so nice, and kind lately. I've noticed little things about him that I haven't noticed before. Like the way his eyes sparkle when he laughs or the way he shakes his leg when he gets nervous or just the way he acts when he feels comfortable around his family. Wait hold on a second do I like ... do I like Joey Birlem!?
