After crying for an hour or so, Damon and I laid on the bed for a while. Nothing special, just laying. He held me in his arms in a calming silence. I've only known Damon for a short time, but everything with him seems much more real. My outlook on life has change a bit since we met. I'm a lot happier than before, and much more fun. Everyone, but Elena, has noticed. Mat had said something about it a few days before this happened. He knows what Damon and Stefan are, but accepts our relationship. Weird how he figured that out before we got together. That's a little creepy.
"Damon."
"Hmm?"
"Why did you kiss Elena?" I asked.
I know his answers weren't going to change anything, but I want to know. Maybe it would make me happier to know why he did. If he says its because of Katarina, then I can deal with that...sort of.
"...why?..." he repeated.
I nodded, and looked at his perfectly sculpted, pale face. He didn't reply for a few minutes, and I started to worry.
"I...Thought I loved her...but then I met you, and things became different...If your worried if I would do it again, don't be. I would never do that to you. Not in my lifetime."
He kissed my forehead softly, and looked deeply into my eyes. I smiled at him truly enjoying his company. He's cool to the touch, and feels wonderful against my heated skin. I sighed, and felt every one of his toned muscles tense underneath me.
"....Are you angry?" He asked softly.
His voice was slightly colder than it usually was when he spoke to me. It seemed that he put his guard up, and was ready for the worst. I shook my head slightly, and looked up to him again.
"No. I'm not angry. I just wanted to know. Though, its not the answer that I expected, but at least I know." I mutter into his chest.
There was a slightly uncomfortable silence forming, on my part, before there was a knock on the door.
Damon groaned, and stood, walking to the door with a disgruntled look on his face. He cracked the door open slightly, and popped his head out.
"What do you want, brother" Damon asked, amusement in every word.
"I need to talk to Nikias. I thought she would be here." I heard Stefan's voice ring through the door.
There was a slight pause ,as if to add to the tension.
"Nikias? Who's that?" Damon teased, hearing the smirk in his voice I almost laughed.
"Don't play dumb Damon. You know exactly who I'm talking about." Stefan sighed, most defiantly adding another frown line to his forehead collection.
"Why do want to talk to her? Don't you have to go frolicking through a field with Elena?" Damon retorted in a snooty voice, disgust evident in his voice.
Stefan sighed, exasperated with his sarcastic, older brother.
"No I don't. Now let me see her." Stefan muttered, irritation showing through his voice.
I mentally sighed, and stood from the bed, walking to the door. Damon's grip on the door wasn't very tight, so I gave it a small, quick yank. The door flew open, startling the two brothers.
"What do you need?" I asked swiftly.
My voice showed slight hostility, and no room for beating around the bush.
"Why did you hit Elena?" He asked.
He was no longer the stressed out, sweet, kind, Stefan that I've become accustom to. His eyes were darkened with anger, and his hair wasn't in its slicked back, neat style it usually is. It was frizzy, and disorderly, as if he had run his fingers through it multiple times.
"Wait. What? You hit Elena?" Damon inquired.
"Yeah, but I had a good reason to." I said with little, to no, interest at all.
"And what reason would you have?! What did she tell you that made you think you could hurt her?!" Stefan said, his voice rising with every word.
I only looked at him with dead eyes. I love Stefan. He's like a brother to me, but when he yells at me...it makes me feel like the world just crashed down on me. So, I told him the truth.
"She said that Damon was evil, and practically ripped my heart out and ran it over with a truck, threw it over a bridge, then fed it to a pack wild dogs. I went a little crazy, and slapped her." I said.
Stefan looked even more upset. He ran a hand through his hair again, making it more tangled and distorted.
"What did she tell you?" Damon asked.
"She said that you killed a lot of people, which I'm, fully, aware of. That you and Stefan were two different stories. She said you weren't able to control yourself, and yelled that you kissed her. Then I told her off, and slapped her." I said.
Stefan looked up, and towards Damon.
"You kissed her?" He seethed.
"It was last month, and I had, practically, forgotten about it, until now." Damon said.
Stefan's frown deepens.
"Is that all you needed? Crying has made me tired, and I wanna go to sleep." I said.
Stefan nodded, and turned down the hall.
"Stef!" I said swiftly.
He turned around slightly, and hummed.
"Are you still mad at me?" I asked in a childish voice.
He laughed.
"No. You were just defending someone you care about. Even if that person is Damon." He said.
"Well, aren't you just a bucket full of sunshine?" Damon said sarcastically.
He only laughed, and went on his way.
"Well! That was... Eventful." I said.
Damon hummed in response.
"Can we go to sleep now?" I asked.
Damon laughed.
"Yeah. Come on hot-stuff." He said grabbing my hand.
In a second we were in the bed, and the door was closed.
