His chestnut brown eyes were locked into mine as if he were putting a spell on me. He slowly placed his palm on top of the back of my hand. I quickly moved it away as I turned my head away from his face.
I took a deep breath in, then I exhaled through my nose.
"I'm sorry if I startled you, I didn't mean it. I just wanted to help you out", he said in a subtle tone.
"It-its o-o-okay, I w-was just leav-leaving", I stammered in reply. I got up from the ground, straightened my hoodie, dusted off my pants and slid my bag up. He also stood up.
"Well, if you need anything you can always ask me", he said. I nodded as I walked out from behind the tank and towards the building.
I didn't have the courage to go to class neither was I feeling it. The aching sensation from my head caused tension in my nerves so I decided to head to the nurse's office.
I didn't want to be noticed so like usual I pulled up my hood and slouched down a bit. I walked down the hallway and went through the reception area to make it to the nurse's office.
Knock Knock
"Come in", a voice from inside said. I turned the doorknob and entered the room. The scent of muscle relief pain gel filled the room. The walls were painted all white but had a bunch of pictures and quotes about staying healthy. Cabinets, drawers, a bed, files, and the nurse's desk was also in the office. The nurse seemed to be treating someone. I moved in closer and noticed the nurse rubbing someone's arm.
"Oh look, your the girl who screamed for no reason in the cafeteria. Your weird", the girl on the bed said.
I looked at the ground as I avoided eye contact with her.
"Now, now", the nurse said as she patted her arm, "you're done, head to class". The girl gets off of the bed grabs her bag and walks out the room as she smirks at me.
I look at her smirk from the corner of my eye. "So, what's your problem", the nurse asked. I walked closer to the desk and said, "umm, I-i have a severe headache".
The nurse gestures to the bed as she gets off her chair. I walk towards the bed and get onto it. The nurse walks up to me and places a thermometer in my mouth.
The cold sensation of the thermometer sent a chill down my back. It was like an ice cube was placed it my mouth but then started to melt as it entered warmth. The nurse walked back over, and examined the thermometer.
"Oh dear, you've got a temperature. I'll need to send you back home so you don't get worse", the nurse said while taking the thermometer out of my mouth. I just sat there and waited for some news, while she called my dad.
The call ended and she turned to me on her chair. "He said he'll be here in 10 minutes. Till then you can just lay on the bed", she explained.
I took my bag off and laid down on the bed placing it on top of my stomach. I closed my eyes for a few minutes making my vision go all black.
Creak
"Oh, is she okay?", a familiar voice asked. "She's fine, I think she just needs some rest", replied the nurse. I opened my eyes and cleared my vision.
The lights first were blurry, then everything became more clear. I sat up straight and noticed my dad standing in front of me. I got off the bed holding on to my bag and headed out.
I got into the car and slouched into the seat. The scorching sun sent a burning sensation throughout my whole body. The light had hit my eye every two seconds so I laid down at the back. We arrived at the house in a few minutes.
I talked to my dad during the ride. I got out of the car and into the house rapidly so I wouldn't have to feel the hot sun on my skin. My dad followed me and stood there waiting for a reply, answer or something. As I walked up the stairs I said "You can go to work, I'll be just fine I need some sleep. I'll see you later".
"Alright honey, if you need anything just let me know", he replied while slowly opening the door. I nodded and then he went back to the car.
I walked up to my room, opened the door placed my bag on the ground, took my contact lens out and got into bed. I couldn't shut my eyes because the bright sun was shining straight at me, so I pulled the shades over it and then tucked myself in.
My eyes slowly started to fade into darkness and made my eyelids feel heavier. The weight pulled them shut. Though the vision wasn't all dark, it was like stars were shining in the night sky that brought me to sleep.
