Chapter 29-Lucy's POV- The Never-ending Adventure

Hello everyone! So this is the last chapter of my story "The Fire Within". I am so glad that so many people have enjoyed this as much as I have enjoyed writing it. This chapter is dedicated to my best friend Loveofrain24, who helped me write this story. I hope you enjoy this final chapter!

When I woke up, I was no longer in the throne room. Instead I was in a large bedroom that was painted purple and gold. On one side of the room was a large white closet with brass handles. Hanging over the middle of the room was a three tiered crystal chandelier. I had never seen anything so beautiful in all my life. I looked down at where I was laying which was on a soft queen size bed with a lovely light purple and gold comforter. It was then that I noticed something pink on the side of the bed. It was the same warm color as Natsu's hair. I looked closer at it and realized that it was Natsu. I couldn't believe it. He had stayed by my side this entire time. I never could understand why he did it, but I was grateful.

He was sleeping peacefully. I did not want to disturb him since he looked so cute when he was sleeping. I began to sit up, trying not to disturb him, but he noticed.

“L…Lucy? Oi are you awake?” He asked as he yawned and was rubbing his eyes.

“Yeah I am. How long was I out?”

“Three days. You had everyone worried.”

“Where are the others?”

“They are downstairs having breakfast with your father.”

“Well I better not keep them waiting.” I said as I pulled off the covers, sat on the edge of the bed, and stood up.

I was about to take a step when a sharp pain from below my left knee made me cringe and I was about to fall. Natsu rushed over to my side and caught me before I fell.

“Easy now. You broke your leg when you were making your way to your father. Rest on your bed and I’ll bring breakfast to you.” He said calmly as he smiled.

I blushed.

“So what would you like to eat?”

That was not a hard choice.

“Pancakes please.” I said smiling back.

He placed me on the bed.

“Alright I will tell everyone you are okay and bring us up some breakfast.” He said as he opened the door and walked down the hallway.

Once Natsu came back with the pancakes, we finally had some time to relax together and to talk. After we finished eating, there was a knock on the door. It was my father.

“Oh good Lucy, you’re up. I have something important to discuss with you. As you know you will be turning 18 in three months. On your birthday, I will hold a grand ball and you can invite anyone you like to it. Until that time, I was hoping that you would stay here at the palace so we can spend some time together and so that your leg can heal.” My father stated matter of factly.

“That seems fair father.”

“Excuse me, your majesty. Can I stay here and help Lucy learn how to walk? I think she will need a friend to help her get through this.” Natsu said meekly.

I have never seen him act this way.

“Oh course you can, but you will have your own bedroom down the hallway from Lucy’s. Is that understood?” My father said as he walked towards Natsu and whispered something into his ear.

I did not hear what he said to Natsu. Natsu nodded his head and so it was decided.

For the next three months, Natsu was always by my side. When Fairy Tail left the palace, Natsu told them to watch Happy for him as he wouldn’t be doing any missions while he was with me. I could not believe he was sacrificing his livelihood just to spend time with me. As the guild and the former Phantom Lord members, who joined Fairy Tail after my father gave them his blessing, road off to the train station, Natsu took my hand and helped me inside the palace.
