Shannon POV

The last thing I wanted to do was leave Cammie alone with Maddy, but I desperately needed to talk to Ally. Plus, I trusted Cammie.

"Als," I said her name to get her attention and then nodded towards the dock, indicating her to come with me.

She kissed Maddy and got up from her chair by the fire pit. Cammie's eyes bugged out of her head when she saw me leaving her there alone with Maddy. She started walking up to me, "babe, I just need to talk to Ally for a minute."

She groaned and pouted, "okay, but I'm not staying here with her. I'm gonna go for a walk and, like, call my mom or something."

I chuckled and kissed her forehead, "okay, whatever you want."

Cammie probably thought this urgent conversation was about why the hell Ally thought it was a good idea to bring that home-wrecker around, and while she was partly right, I really needed to talk to Ally about something else.

We sat on the edge of the dock where Cammie and I had sat before with our feet in the water. Without saying anything, I pulled the ring out from my pocket. Ally eyes lit up and she grabbed it from my hands. "Shannon," she gasped dramatically, "Of course I'll marry you." She slipped the ring on her finger and pretended to come in for a kiss.

I laughed and pushed her face away. "You idiot," I chuckled.

She smiled and tried to take the ring off. "Uhh, I think Cammie's fingers might be a little smaller than mine," she said, tugging at the ring.

I rolled my eyes, "you better get that off."

She dipped her hand in the water and slipped the ring off. "Ha, there we go," she raised her hand up with the ring between her two fingers, but her hand was still wet, so it slipped right out of her hands and into the water below us.

"You mother fucker," I said angrily.

Her face went pale as she looked down at the water in shock. "Oh god, uh- um. Don't worry, okay? Look, I'll get it. I can see it down there," she stuttered nervously.

I just raised my eyebrows at her as if to ask why she hasn't already dove in for it yet. She took a deep breath and slipped off the dock into the water. We were out too far, so it was just barely above her head. She came up a couple times because it was hard to see and she was having trouble getting it, but she finally came back up with it. "I'm sorry, Shan," she said once she finally handed it to me. She could see how angry I got, but really I was just frustrated and worried that she'd ruin the proposal.

"It's fine, you just scared me, that's all," I assured her. She nodded and we both stood up to walk back up to the campsite. "Wait," I said, remembering that that wasn't the only thing we needed to talk about.

She turned to look at me, waiting for me to speak. "What the hell were you thinking bringing Maddy back around? Don't you remember what she did?" I asked, a bit upset. Ally was my best friend and she saw what it did to me when Cammie cheated on me with Maddy.

"I like her, Shan. I waited a while to tell you because I knew you'd be upset. Besides, it's been ten years," she reasoned. "She's changed."

I looked into her eyes and I could tell she truly believed that. I didn't have the heart to tell her that I believed otherwise, and I had some pretty solid proof. I just took a deep breath, "if you say so." I didn't even give her a chance to keep the conversation going, I just walked back.

"Hey- uh, what happened?" Cammie said once she noticed how wet Ally was.

Ally and I shared a quick look, "Ally tripped." Ally just shrugged and Cam laughed at her. "Hey, you wanna go for a walk real quick?" I asked Cam, suddenly getting insanely nervous.

"Sure," she smiled.

When I had gone for a walk by myself I found the perfect spot to propose to Cammie. It was this little dirt path, and about a few minutes into the walk there was a small hill. It was perfect because the entire path had trees on either side, but at the top of the hill the trees had been cleared so you could see out over the water. I wanted to time it just right so that we would get there when the sun was setting.

I reached for Cammie's hand while we walked. She intertwined our fingers and hugged my arm. I just smiled. This girl made me so happy, I couldn't even express it with words. Instead, I was going to do it with a ring.

"Look how pretty that is," Cammie gasped when we got to the top of the hill. She pointed out over the water at the cotton candy skies. I sighed at how perfectly I timed this.

I admired the view for a second, but really I was just preparing myself. "Cam," I said softly.

She turned to me, and when our eyes met I got down on one knee. She put her hands over her mouth and tears immediately filled her eyes. It looked like a stereotypical proposal. "Camden Mar-"

"Yes," she frantically interrupted me.

I laughed, "what?"

"Yes, I'll marry you," she said with a huge smile on her face and a tear falling down her cheek.

I laughed some more and finally stood up, I realized I hadn't even pulled the ring out of my pocket. She grabbed my face and immediately attached our lips, I could feel that her smile wasn't fading. "You didn't even let me give you the ring," I mumbled.

She giggled and pulled away, looking down at our hands as I put the ring on her. It looked so perfect on her hand. I was confused when she reached in her pocket. She pulled out a small box and I suddenly knew exactly what she was doing.

Her hand shook from excitement as she opened the box to reveal a silver wedding band. "You were taking too long, so I was just going to ask you myself," she giggled.

I looked at the ring and then looked at her in amazement. I couldn't even find the words to say. She smiled as a few more happy tears fell on her cheeks. I didn't even realize that I had started crying too. She slipped the ring on my finger this time and wrapped her arms around my neck. I pulled her into a tight hug.

"I'm so in love with you," she whispered into my neck.

"You have no idea," I said and pulled away to kiss her.

After our little moment, we finally walked back to where Maddy and Ally were having a fire. Ally looked at me as if to ask if I did it, I just looked at Cam, waiting for her to show Ally the ring.

Ally's eyes lit up and she got up to hug us, "congrats guys, do I get to plan this engagement party too?"

My happy look instantly faded when she brought up the fact that this wasn't the first time I'd been engaged. I noticed Cammie's look change thinking about that, too. "I think we're going to skip an engagement party this time," I patted Ally's shoulder and walked past her, still holding Cammie's hand.

I sat down in a chair and pulled Cam onto my lap. I noticed that Maddy looked uncomfortable and hadn't said a word since we came back. I looked over and noticed she was staring at the rings on Cammie and I's intertwined hands. "Congratulations, guys," she said. I couldn't tell whether it was fake or genuine.

"Thanks, we're pretty happy," Cammie smiled her signature fake smile at her and then planted a passionate kiss on my lips.

I grinned widely at her, trying not to laugh out loud at how awkward Maddy got.
