Shannon POV

"Cam," I groaned and snuggled into her as she moved around on our air mattress. "Don't leave me, I'm cold," I grumbled.

She wrapped her arms around me and grabbed another blanket that had fallen to the side and threw it over us. I buried my face in her neck and felt the warmth of her body against mine. I kissed her neck a few times. "Good morning beautiful," I smiled into her neck.

"Morning," she kissed my forehead. "Shan I really have to pee," she laughed, which explains why she was trying to get up a few minutes ago.

I groaned and rolled off of her. "I'll come with you. I don't want you walking over there alone, there could be creepy people here," I said, sitting up.

I slid on my shoes. "Aw, chaperoning me to the bathroom. You really do love me," she said sarcastically and put her hand over her heart.

I rolled my eyes and grabbed my toothbrush. "Don't want my little baby getting kidnapped," I pinched her cheek and unzipped our tent so we could walk over to the bathroom.

We heard giggles coming from Ally and Maddy's tent, so we knew they were awake. When we came back from the bathroom they were coming out of their tent. "Ready for that volleyball game, Beveridge," Maddy asked.

I gave her a weak smile and chuckled, "ready as I'll ever be, I guess." It wasn't the game I was worried about, it was her I didn't like.

Cam was climbing back into our tent to get changed for the day and Ally was still in their tent. "You better bring your A game or I might have that pretty girlfriend of yours crawling back to me after this weekend," she warned quietly, for only me to hear.

I had tried my best be civil with her this weekend for the sake of Ally and even Cammie, but this was too far. I got in her face and almost lost my temper, "you better fucking watch your mouth." I made sure to stay quiet enough so no one else would hear.

"Uh oh, someone's worried," Maddy joked dryly.

I scoffed and climbed back into the tent. This volleyball game just went from being a friendly competition to feeling like an all out battle for my girlfriend. I didn't have anything to worry about, though, right?

I flopped down on our mattress, pissed off. "Woah, what's the matter with you?" Cammie asked.

I scoffed, rehearsing the previous conversation in my head. "Just- nothing," I said a bit annoyed.

"Jeez, okay. Sorry," Cam said, which made me feel kind of bad, I just didn't even want to talk about it with her.

I got up and slipped on my sneakers. "Yeah, I'm gonna go for a walk," I said. I needed to clear my head and stop being so angry.

"Okay, I'll come with you?" Cammie asked.

I shook my head, "Can I just be alone for a bit?"

"Oh, uh. Okay," she sounded sad, which made me feel bad. I just couldn't talk to her about this because I knew all she would say is that I don't have to worry. Maybe she was right, but even if she did feel something or had doubts about Maddy, there's no way she would tell me.

I walked down a nature trail for a little bit. I fiddled with something in my pocket. After a little while I had calmed myself down and realized I was just overthinking things, which is exactly what Maddy wanted. I pulled the thing I'd been playing with out of my pocket.

The ring glistened in the sun. Maybe I was letting this Maddy situation get to my head because I was scared she'd get in the way of me proposing to Cammie, since that is what I was planning to do this weekend. Or maybe this was a sign that now just wasn't the right time.
