Before I could stop myself I leaned back towards Evelyn and kissed her passionately. I felt my heart beating and my skin was on fire where we touched. It felt perfect, right, fate.
"Evelyn's a pretty name." I whispered into her ear before continuing our kiss.
We had found our way to the bed.
I had her pinned to the bed underneath me and her hands were tangled messily in my hair and she fought to control the kiss. I held her back and head and lifted her up to my lips and took control of the kiss myself, our lips moving in sync.
I heard a groan escape her and I paused, trying to not go crazy with wanting, before moving on. I could hear myself saying, what are you thinking? You just met her! and Wow.
I heard someone clear their throat in the background and I untangled myself from Evelyn's embrace and whipped my head to the door.
-----
Jax pulled away and I couldn't help feeling a sense of sadness as he escaped my embrace but it was quickly replaced by a sudden feeling of embarrassment for Marcy had entered the room.
I made myself smaller and kind of hid behind Jax. Marcy laughed.
"I see you've met Jax then." She giggled. "Good, then you'll stay in his room. He is the only one with an open bed and you've already met each other. How perfect."
She smirked then left the room with a flick of her hair leaving Jax and I's mouths gaping.
Jax fixed his hair and turned to me with some sort of emotion I couldn't place before turning his face blank again.
Following suite, I sat up and straightened my hair as well. I looked at him expectantly, waiting. I sighed, obviously he wasn't going to explain what just happened so I said timidly.
"Uh... Do you know what happened either?"
He looked at me surprised before saying "No." Before getting up and leaving the room.
He stopped and turned around. "I don't know, but I think it's obviously a silly impulse." Before he left he whispered to himself, thinking I couldn't hear saying "A nice impulse" And leaving.
I looked around the room again. Infuriated that he would call whatever that was, a "silly impulse" before remembering that he secretly thought it was nice.
Why do I care though? We aren't dating and it was probably a one time thing, but I couldn't help but feel as though he would change my life and world forever.
I heard some footsteps and looked toward the exit. Maven stepped into the room. He looked afraid.
"Are you okay? Did he hurt you?" He asked looking at me with worry.
Mentally or physically? I wanted to say but instead I answered. "No." He didn't seem to believe me so I continued. "Really. I'm fine. Why would he hurt me?"
Maven still seemed unsure. "He can be rash sometimes and harsh."
"I'm honestly fine."
Maven seemed to finally believe me and I sighed in relief. Then Luna, Lyan, Marcy, and Jax walked in.
"We've taken our votes." Luna said. "And-"
"And you can stay." Marcy interrupted, a grin on her face.
Lyan rolled his eyes, Luna seemed bored, Maven smiled but I wasn't really looking at them. I was looking at Jax.
He was avoiding my gaze but when he finally looked at me it was with longing and sadness.
