I woke up to the feeling of being watched. I sat up groggily and looked over to see Jax staring at me from his bed.
When I saw him he quickly rolled over and pretended nothing happened.
Creep. I thought to myself.
"What time is it?" I asked, yawning.
He didn't respond for awhile but then forced out. "8:00 I think."
I yawned once more before getting out of bed and unzipping my bag. Jax rolled over at the sound and looked at me with a puzzled expression.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
I rolled my eyes at him. "What does it look like I'm doing?"
Settling on a pair of cut-off shorts and a flower shirt, I stood up and started making the bed.
"It's still kinda early." He said to me.
I shook my head. "You can stay in your cave. I was told I would get a tour today so I'm up." It came out a little harsher than expected.
In an instant, Jax was up and grabbing a change of clothes.
I sighed. "What are you doing?" I questioned.
He chuckled. "Getting ready to give you a tour." With that he ran out, brushing my arm on the way.
The contact made me stop in my tracks. I had butterflies in my stomach and my heart was pounding rapidly. I had to calm myself down before grabbing my clothes and rushing after him, realizing he was trying to get to the bathroom first.
I rushed down the hall, almost knocking into Luna on the way.
"You can't just-" She started to say but I was already running again. "Umm okay then." I heard her say before she continued down the hall in the opposite direction.
I had just gotten to the bathroom door as it started to close.
I pushed my way between the door and the wall, stopping it in it's tracks.
"Get out Eve." I heard Jax tease. I was stunned for a second. My parent's called me Eve. Why is he being so friendly?
"No." I said defiantly, trying not to smile.
It didn't work so well as my face started to grin without my consent.
"I'll get changed right here." He said, smirking.
My heart stopped. My blood was pounding in my ears as I started to blush.
"You will not." I giggled.
"Will I?" He smirked again before promptly removing his shirt.
He was strong and my god was he hot. Nope. I turned bright red before squeezing back out of the doorway.
I could here him laughing and I couldn't help but smile.
-----
I laughed out loud at the sight of Evelyn's face when I took my shirt of. She stared at my chest before practically teleporting out of the room.
She was so cute when she was uncomfortable.
I continued changing and combed my hair before opening the door to see her tumbling in.
I tried to regain my balance but she toppled onto me and I tripped over the bathtub wall and fell inside, with her falling onto my chest.
I grunted as I felt her tumble onto me. Not that she was heavy or anything, but just the shock of the situation from standing to in a bathtub.
She looked up at me and turned bright red again. I couldn't help but smirk.
"If you wanted to bathe with me, you should've asked." I teased, which resulted in her turning even darker.
She quickly got off of me muttering "Sorry" and "No I-"and I couldn't contain it any longer and laughed again.
How can this girl make me laugh so much within the same hour? I thought to myself, there is no way I can just leave her alone.
"I-I think I'll change now. "She squeaked sheepishly.
Regaining my posture I said "Of course m'lady." before bowing deeply and walking out.
-----
After Jax left it took me awhile before I could function again. All I could think was, omg omg omg omg omg!
I quickly changed clothes and looked into the mirror. My hair was a tangled mess. I tried to tame it but my hair was just not having it. Then I heard my knight in shining armor, Marcy.
"Lyan!" She yelled. "Get back out here and get your gross shirt out of the hallway!"
I giggled before calling Marcy into the bathroom.
She was dressed in a sparkly pink shirt with super short shorts with gemstones on the hip. Unlike me, her hair was in a short bob again, completely fine.
"Sorry hun. I had to-" She stopped dead cold when she saw me pointing to my hair.
"Dear god! What did you do here?" She exclaimed.
I looked down giggling. "Can you help me?"
"Well ya, but what in the world!" She said, still partially shouting.
"I don't know." I simply stated.
Marcy grabbed my brush and wrestled with my hair for twenty minutes before I heard her say "Done." in a victorious way.
I stood up and looked into the mirror with shock. She had managed to tame my hair and give me a nice braid.
"How did you-" I started, but she interrupted.
"A magician never tells their secrets." She smiled and walked out.
I moved out of the bathroom and ran right into Maven.
Ugh, you idiot! How the hell are you so darn clumsy?
Maven looked surprised and paled at the sight of me.
He was wearing a plain T and some boxer-like shorts. I almost giggled at his uncomfortable face.
"So sorry Elsie." He said with an apologetic look.
I smiled. "That's okay Maven. It was really my fault, I was-" I stopped, remembering my silly lie.
I shook my head as the recent fun was chased out of my mind by images of my parent's bodies and the girl.
"Elsie?" Maven asked. "You're turning gray!"
I shook my head again as my vision started to cloud.
"I-I'm fine." I whispered. "And it's Evelyn."
"What?" He quizzed.
Stronger now, I said "My name is Evelyn. I was a bit freaked and stressed so I gave you a fake name."
He stopped and looked at me strangely. "You're name's not Elsie?"
I chuckled. "No."
"Oh." He said, but I thought I heard him whisper my name under his breath.
"That's a nice name." He said.
I replied with "Thanks." before starting down the metal hallway again. I could feel his eyes following me as I walked away.
