Chapter 28: "Those Are Horrendous"

Kennedy's POV

Today was the day Sarah was allowed to come home. She'd been put on a waiting list for a heart transplant but her doctor said she was stable enough to come home. Myself, Debbie and Cain were in her room helping her pack everything.

"Joe not here?" She asked bitterly, I rolled my eyes looking back to her.

"No why would he be?" I said, knowing she couldn't stand Joe.

"Fancied a ride home in the Jag" she laughed shrugging earning herself eyerolls from everyone in the room.

"Right come on" Debbie laughed as she helped Sarah up and we all made our way outside to where Charity was waiting.

*at Debbie's*

"You're going to love what I've got you" Mum said Sarah, Debbie making a disgusted face. I gave her a questioning look.

"You'll see" she mouthed to me, we all walked inside Charity holding a big smile on her face as she points her arms at the new pillows on Debbie's sofa. My face scrunches up as I look them, Sarah scoffs.

"Those are horrendous" I say laughing. Sarah rolls her eyes.

"I like them" she giggles, I shoot my head her way and frown at her, she just smiles. I shake my head shaking the image from my head. Not long later, mum had left and me and Sarah were sat on the sofa.

"I've got a bunch of movies, I was thinking you can pick some and we can all watch them together" Debbie brings over two stacks of dvds placing them out on the coffee table in front. I had zoned out pretty much the entire time, I was only brought back to the present when I felt a tap on my arm, I looked to my right to see Debbie staring intently at me.

"You okay?" She whispered, I just shrugged. She stood up pulling my arm pulling me to the bottom of the stairs.

"Whats on your mind?" She questioned. I leant against the wall looking away from Debbie shifted in my spot.

"I miss him" I said barely audible. Debbie gave a small smile.

"Go to him Ken, you two may not realise it but you two need each other" she gave my arm a rub

"I cant Debs, I keep running back" I sigh rubbing my temple.

"Isn't that a sign? You can't keep away from him" she playfully laughed giving me a nudge. I just rolled my eyes shaking my head.

"is it ever going to work? Sarah hates him, Mum hates him, Dad hates him. Need i go on?" i said in a harsh tone.

"When do you ever care about what others think? You don't. I've forgiven him so i'm sure they'll all come around, you need to do what's best for you not anyone else" she looked deep into my eyes, i pulled my eyes away standing looking at the floor for a few seconds. I quickly walked out the door before Debbie could say a thing.  Walking through town, i bumped into Dan.

"woah i'm sorry! hey, any news yet?" i say hopefully looking up to him, his face dropped as he shook his head walking off. i shrugged it off and carried on my walk.

As i reached home farm, i didn't bother knocking i just walked straight in, looking around i find Joe asleep on the sofa. I smiled at him, even though he couldn't see me, he looked so peaceful. I gently sat down on the end of the sofa by his feet as i waited for him to wake up.

JOE'S POV

My eyes slowly fluttered open, i fell asleep longer than i had anticipated. As i went to sit up i felt a weight on my feet, turning my head i see Kennedy sat down on the other end of the sofa, fast asleep. I knew she wouldn't stay away for long. I shifted myself carefully so i didn't wake her, but enough that i was sat up straight.

"Joe" I looked to my right, at the girl laying up against me. Her eyes still closed, my name flowing off her lips was barely audible, yet i missed hearing it.

"hey" i said in a soothing way stroking her head.

"i don't know what's wrong with me" she muttered, sounding like she was still half asleep.

"what do you mean Ken?" i asked

"i can't stay away from you, i-i really try, but i j-just c-can't" I smiled at her tracing circles on her lower back.

"i'm so stupid, i can't even take a break from you. it's like i'm glued to you" she chuckled a little, waking up a bit more. I grab her hand.

"i don't want this anymore. I want to be with you. I love you" I cupped her face stroking her cheek with my thumb.

"I love you" she placed a kiss on my lips, pulling away and cuddling into my side.

"let's not argue again. for a while at least" she let out a small chuckle.

"deal" i head up my pinkie. she rolled her eyes.

"are you serious? what are you? 2" she snapped. I rolled my eyes this time.

"oh come on" I snapped back, she scoffed.

"you're a pain in the ass" she hissed, glaring at me.

"oh and you're not?" i said sarcastically. Kennedy furrowed her eyebrows.

"it's been 5 minutes and we are already arguing" she said after a minute of silence.

"you started it, all i did was hold out my pinkie" i shrugged.

"we aren't in primary school Joe, that means jack shit." She said raising her eyebrows at me.

"fine, i promise to not start any arguments with you" I say smiling at her, she returned a smile.

"i promise to not start any arguments either" She smiles wide, kissing my cheek.

"let's just be happy"
